February has been an exciting month for our International Programs students, filled with new places, cultures, and unforgettable experiences. From exploring ancient wonders in Egypt to hiking through Patagonia's stunning landscapes and visiting historic landmarks in Rome, each group has embraced every opportunity to learn and grow. We also shared some exciting updates about the Fall 2025 HUF program in chapel—more details on that below! Keep reading to catch up on the latest adventures of HUG, HULA, HUF, and more.
HUG

Harding University in Greece

February was a month packed with incredible experiences for our HUG group as they explored Egypt, Greece, and beyond. Their journey began in Egypt, where they ventured through ancient tombs, temples, and the pyramids, traveling by camel, horse-drawn carriage, and even hot air balloon. A standout experience was cruising the Nile, stopping each day to visit historic sites along the river.

In Greece, the group spent time in Athens, climbing the Acropolis and exploring other landmarks. They also took a trip to Northern Greece, where they visited the ruins of Delphi, the monasteries of Meteora, and the historical sites of Vergina, Thessaloniki, and Philippi. To wrap up the month, the students spent a few days traveling independently, discovering new destinations across Europe.
HULA

Harding University in Latin America

The HULA group has settled into life in Arequipa, Peru, getting to know their new home and connecting with the local community. They’ve explored the city’s historic sites, worshipped with the local congregation, played soccer with new friends, and even learned to make traditional Peruvian dishes in a hands-on cooking class. This month also took them on an unforgettable journey to Argentina, where they explored Buenos Aires before heading south to Patagonia. There, they visited Los Glaciares National Park, admired the rugged beauty of Mount Fitz Roy, and traveled to Ushuaia—“The End of the World.” HULA's time in Latin America is already off to an exciting and memorable start.
HUF

Harding University in Florence

The HUF group has been making the most of their time in Italy. They’ve explored Florence, taking in its history, art, and culture while also diving into hands-on experiences like a cooking class, a leatherworking workshop, a coffee tour, and even a soccer match. The highlight of the month was a four-day trip to Rome, where they walked through centuries of history, visiting famous landmarks such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and several churches.
New Additions to HUF Fall 2025!

    On Thursday, February 27th, we announced some exciting new additions to the HUF Fall 2025 program during chapel! This fall, students will not only visit the iconic sites of Italy—such as Rome, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast—but will also spend a week in Greece at our HUG campus, exploring Athens and Corinth. As the semester winds down, students will travel to the enchanting Christmas markets of Northern Italy before boarding the Bernina Express, one of the world’s most scenic train rides, which will take them across the Swiss Alps and end in Zurich, Switzerland. Don’t miss out on this adventure—spots are still available!

  • Thanks to your generosity on Giving Day, we raised $3,605 for the Shackelford Family Scholarship Fund for International Programs! Your support helps make study abroad possible for more students. If you’d still like to give, please visit harding.edu/academics/study-abroad/donate.

  • We held our second breakout chapel of the semester to help fall study abroad students reflect on their experiences abroad. This month, Dr. Jack Shock, Noah Darnell, and April Fatula led a session on how to share stories effectively.

  • To celebrate February, we launched the Share the Love campaign—students who encouraged a friend to sign up for study abroad this month earned $500 off their program, and their friend did too!
