A New Product Comes to Life!
One of the things you may have noticed about our product line is that it was designed with you in mind. I love to use the opportunity to create value for the community through our partnership with Edo-Bank, and to help support the farm's mission of conservation, but just as important is knowing that I am providing a quality product that you love.
When a customer comes to use with an idea - for a design, packaging, or product line, I take that suggestion seriously and race to the drawing board to start experimenting. Experiments lead to testing - first by me, then by family, and then by our select group of product testers. All before a concept comes to life.
In this case, I received a suggestion to craft a type of lotion bar that would ease the extreme dry skin caused by excess handwashing. Taking that one step further, I developed a recipe with ingredients like Jojoba Oil, Mango Butter, and Shea Butter that will produce a high quality, non-greasy lotion in a bar format. Next, I added a touch of fragrance so that you, the user, can enjoy the scent, but not so much that you fill the room with it. Once the product was developed, the next decision was packaging.
Testing a number of ideas including paperboard options, I ultimately landed with package options that will hold up to normal, daily use and are practical, cost effective, and minimize our impact on the environment. Our new plastic tubes are made from 100% recycled material and can be recycled again once used. Our aluminum tins are durable and almost endlessly recyclable, plus you can wash and repurpose them for storage of small items!
Feedback from our testers has been heartwarmingly positive, with comments such as: "Fabulous for my dry feet, I can use it and immediately put on socks or shoes without waiting for anything to dry!" "No lie, this balm has smoothed the rough patches on my face." "The tube is simply perfect for on the go use, and I don't have to worry about leaks!" "My hands have never felt so good!"
Today we launch our Lotion Bar line out to you and would love to hear what you think!
