We want to apologize for this letter being a bit late, but it is because we wanted to be able to share some good news in it.
We have officially moved from our temporary housing into our permanent home at Missionary Acres. Unfortunately, we are not yet 100% complete with the work on the house (inside or out), but the project is completed enough that we were able to live in the home while we finish the rest. On Tuesday night, we spent our first night inside our new home. Sitting around the table as a family to eat dinner together (for the first time in over a year) was such a blessing! It’s quickly becoming a favorite time of the day again.
Lisa and the kids are still working on removing some smaller items from the old house, but we’re so thankful to be at this stage. Bryan will begin working on the siding next week. He’ll also need to complete some ducting work under the house, install bathroom vents in the attic, and build a ramp so we can more easily get Owen into the home. We currently have cinder block stairs, which aren’t easy for him to balance on. So, we will be busy for a while longer as we unpack and complete these smaller projects around the home.
However, we want to pause and take this moment to thank everyone who has been praying for us over the last year and to the many who gave donations to make this project possible. You all are amazing. We also want to thank the staff at Missionary Acres, the many residents, and even a neighbor who have all pitched in to help over the past year to make this day possible.
Missionary Acres Update
The Mowen family arrived safely at Missionary Acres and are settling into an apartment while the staff works on their house.
Over the past month, there has been much work on the future house of the Galvan family. Bryan and a staff member spent a couple of weeks installing drain tile, water gutter drainpipe, and backfill around the house’s foundation.
Then a work team arrived, and although Bryan was unable to assist them, the walls were stood up, and the roof trusses were installed. Since the group left, the rest of the staff and a resident have been working on installing sheeting on the roof. That project has made a lot of progress over the past month and is starting to look like a house.
Please pray for more laborers as there is still a lot of work to be completed to get this house ready prior to the arrival of the family.
On top of the two projects mentioned above, there is a third house in the demolition stage of a remodel for yet another family already living on-site in temporary housing. As you can tell, we have a ton of work to complete over the coming months!
Please also pray for the upcoming Baptist Mid-Missions General Council Meeting – scheduled for the end of September. They will be discussing the new proposed constitution for Missionary Acres. Please pray for wisdom as many decisions and work still need completing behind the scenes as we transition to a new governing document here at Missionary Acres.
Tanner Family Update
As already mentioned, we moved into our new home this week. Bryan has taken the past couple of weeks off from working with the Missionary Acres team to make this happen. Please pray that we can complete the work on the phase one remodel of our home soon and that Bryan will be able to join the team again. Please also pray for wisdom on when to start phase two of the project. That will include digging a tornado shelter and adding living space to the front of the house, projects God already provided the funds for.
Jayme started her new college classes this week. Please pray for a successful semester.
Lisa and the developing baby are doing well, please continue to pray for a healthy pregnancy. We’re excited to meet this little one towards the end of the year.
Finally, we want to give a big thank you to the person who donated our fifteen-passenger van to us when we were just starting on deputation. On Saturday, it hit 100,000 miles. Praise God, we have had no significant issues, and the vehicle has performed wonderfully for us as we have traveled back and forth across the country many times. Please continue to pray that it keeps going for many, many, many, more miles to come.
Bryan & Lisa Tanner & Family
We’ve spent a few nights in the newly remodeled home. It’s been such a blessing to have a bit more room to spread out!
Paperwork is still ongoing, but we should be officially cleared for service soon.
Owen had a good appointment with the GI specialist, and his office is helping us find a new company to work with for his formula and g-tube supplies since the previous request was never approved.
For Lisa’s pregnancy and the newest Tanner baby.
For salvation for our children who are not yet saved.
That the clearance process could be completed quickly so we could officially be done with deputation.
To find a company that has the right kind of replacement g-tube to send for Owen - he has an uncommon style and it’s been challenging to find an approved provider here in MO that carries that specific one. His current one has been in for well over a year and is starting to leak, so we need to change it.
For our oldest daughter Jayme, as she begins her sophomore year at College of the Ozarks.
For the health and safety of the dear saints here at Missionary Acres
For wisdom as we unpack and prepare the new home.
For our homeschooling year, that starts on Monday!
