Dear Reader ,

Leaving the summer months behind us, many activities at the EaP CSF have picked up speed. During its meeting from 15 to 17 September 2021, the Steering Committee of the EaP CSF discussed important issues such as the Annual Assembly 2021 agenda and delegate selection procedures.

Furthermore, during the Eastern Partnership Senior Officials Meeting 2021, EaP CSF representative and Steering Committee Co-chair Sofia Strive addressed current challenges in the EaP region.

Meanwhile, the EaP CSF has received several eligible Re-granting proposals for Lot 1 and Lot 2. The selected projects will be published in the near future.

Lastly, on the announcement of Natalia Yerashevich leaving her position, the Secretariat of the EaP CSF Steering Committee has launched a call for applications for the role of Director. We are truly grateful to Natalia for her hard work and for playing a key role in shaping the Forum and its activities over the last 8 years.

News from EaP CSF

Online Steering Committee Meeting

The Steering Committee (SC) of the EaP CSF convened from 15 September to 17 September 2021 to discuss fundamental points regarding the agenda for the upcoming 13th Annual Assembly. Furthermore, the members of the Steering Committee elaborated on delegate selection procedures as well as miscellaneous issues, such as strategy development and financial matters. Read more here.

Eligible Re-granting proposals for Lot 1 and Lot 2

The EaP CSF has received one eligible project proposal for Lot 1, while Lot 2 has attracted 20 proposals, out of which 18 are eligible. The selection committee will soon publish the list of selected projects. See the list of eligible project proposals here.

Call for applications: Director of the EaP CSF Steering Committee Secretariat (deadline: 30 September 2021)

The Steering Committee of the EaP CSF is looking to appoint a full-time Director for its Secretariat. Among other responsibilities, the Director will manage and oversee the organisational development and coherence of the network, and the implementation of the new EaP CSF Strategy 2022-2030. Call for applications: EaP CSF National Platforms’ Assessor (deadline: 8 October 2021)

The Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum is looking for an external consultant/ team of two external consultants to carry out the second External Assessment of the six National Platforms’ compliance with the Ethical Code of Conduct and the implementation of the recommendations stemming from the EaP CSF Internal Reform. Volunteering Opportunity at the Annual Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (deadline: 20 October 2021)

The Secretariat of the Steering Committee of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum (EaP CSF) is looking for four motivated volunteers, who share the passion for the Eastern Partnership region, to be part of the team organizing the Annual Assembly of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum from 30 November- 2 December 2021. Senior Officials Meeting: Speech by Sofia Strive, Co-chair of the EaP CSF Steering Committee

During the Eastern Partnership Senior Officials Meeting 2021, EaP CSF representative and Steering Committee Co-chair Sofia Strive, addressed current challenges in the EaP region that have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, political crises and shrinking civic space. Opportunities

EU4Environment seminar: Policies and tools for enforcement of environmental compliance

Taking place on 17-18 November 2021, the seminar will provide its participants from the EaP and OECD economies an opportunity to share and discuss the findings of environmental compliance assurance reviews in Armenia and the Republic of Moldova. It will also discuss the characteristics of a clear and comprehensive environmental enforcement policy, the tools at the disposal of authorities to enforce compliance, and the optimal combination of penalties for non-compliance. Call for grant proposals: Young social entrepreneurs in Moldova (deadline: 8 October 2021)

The EU-funded project “EU4Youth- EUnlocking” has launched a new call for grant proposals for young entrepreneurs, aged 18-35, who want to start a social business in the Republic of Moldova. Find more information here (in Romanian).

EU4Business Report on SME Support in the Eastern Partnership

The annual report for 2021 on the EU4Business initiative, published by the European Commission, shows that nearly 72,000 companies in the six EaP countries have received assistance from EU4Business and managed to create over 50,000 new jobs. Read the report here .

Disinformation Resilience Index in Central and Eastern Europe in 2021

The report by EAST Center focuses on the changes which have taken place in the institutional and regulatory framework and media landscape in the EaP since 2018. The research covers disinformation studies, relations with Russia and China regarding aspects like changes in the media landscape and responses from the media and civil society.
