Life has been quite hectic over the past two weeks. I feel like I could sleep for seven days and that wouldn't be enough.

Last week I drove to Brisbane (3 1/2 hours away) for a workshop at the State Library run by the Queensland Writers Centre, named Printable. We worked on our websites, talked about branding and thought about who our ideal readers are. I came up with a new tagline for my my website and my writing:

...writing heat with heart

Thanks to everyone who emailed to welcome Duke into our family. He has settled in perfectly. When my daughter goes home for morning tea and lunch he insists on playing. If no play happens, he shows his displeasure by creating havoc. He sleeps with her every night, and if he wants to play at 4am and she insists on sleeping instead, he just sits on her head :)

Writing News

Today I submitted my short story for the Steamy Romance Anthology, titled Back to You. It is a second chance romance, set in Western Australia. I don't think I've ever been so nervous about a submission. Getting into this anthology will help me with exposure in all the right ways. Now I wait. And wonder. And hope.

I think it's important for all authors to continue their learning. It's great to learn new ways to improve the stories we write.

Yesterday I attended a two hour workshop held by our local library - Plotting a Page Turner. I found this very helpful and during our work time I started to work on ideas for my next novel, Down The Rabbit Hole.

Two weeks ago I attended another workshop about Voice and Vision: Bringing Your Writing to Life. It was quite interesting, thinking about characters and what made them what they are.

Last week I tried out Facebook ads for the second time. It is a big learning curve. When starting ads it's all about testing. Testing different audiences, art work and copy (words in the ad). I'm not sure what I learnt this time around, apart from the fact that FB really likes to spend your money :)

Cover Reveal

Release date has been moved forward to 31 December.

I'm excited to share this with you. It means that I am another step closer to publishing.

Over the weekend I have been working on a new blurb. The last one had big chunks of text and a few readers are turned off by this. So, I am trying a condensed one, which allows for more white space and will be more visually appealing.

The manuscript is now with my proofreader. It is due back in a few days. Once received, I will start on my final edits and then I will be able to format it ready for upload.
