Have you ever wondered about an initiative that allows people to choose mobile devices that respect privacy? This is precisely what the /e/OS-Project stands for.
This project is run by two groups: E Foundation, a non-profit organisation, and Murena, a for-profit company. Although they have different ways of doing things, they share the same goal: to ensure that everyone can choose a mobile device—like a smartphone or tablet—that runs on software that respects privacy, is open-source, and is suitable for the environment.

NGI is committed to addressing the current gender gap that exists in open source, and more generally within the software development landscape. While celebrating International Women’s Day, we share in this article some of the work being carried out to address these issues as part of a wider effort to promote equity, diversity and inclusion across all elements of the NGI ecosystem.

In January 2024, the NGI Outreach Office organised the NGI Panel: Communities, Digital Rights & The Future of the Internet. Held online on Thursday, January 25th, this event is part of the European Commission’s NGI Initiative, striving to reshape the internet to reflect European values and norms. Through the NGI Zero Commons Fund, the European Commission is set to award over €21.6 million in grants for the development of open digital technologies. This marks the most substantial commitment from the European Commission’s Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative since its inception in 2019.

Every Wednesday, from February 7 to April 4, Philippe Félix, an expert in digital communication and training and partner of the NGI Outreach Office will show how to enhance your online presence and take your NGI project or innovation to the next level. Open to all NGI-funded actors and innovators.
