Summer's right around the corner which means better weather, and I'm super excited!
This week we're focusing on practical things - how to not miss deadlines, how to stand out in a hiring process and how to manage your meetings.
With gratitude, Janel
Getting Unstuck "In order to overcome getting stuck, we must both expect and accept that it will happen from time to time. Through attention and practice, we can limit their damage and duration when slumps do occur." This is done through prevention, recognition and intervention. Worth taking the time to read and reflect on.
Instagram had 13 employees when they were acquired by Facebook for $1 billion

Caught In The Study Web A deep dive into how young minds (Gen Z) are studying together while creatively using apps, websites, and videos to support one another. Study influencers exist! Back when I was at university, I used to have a support group of friends I'd study with in the library. Interesting to see how this has moved into the digital world.
Too Many Meetings? How to Marie Kondo your calendar, so you can focus time on what matters.
Judge each meeting on opportunity cost, not ROI - Make sure that each meeting is improving outcomes.
Improve meeting quality by ensuring that each meeting has an agenda - Having all parties come prepared means that synchronous time meetings is used to make important decisions
Reduce meeting frequency - Move unimportant things to async communication
Eliminate last minute distractions - It's ok to say no!
Bottlenecks are useful, until they aren’t - Remove blockers!
Don’t use internal deadlines as a guaranteed component of your external promises. Use buffers.
Break a single deadline into a couple of milestones so that you can track your progress.

Resources & Tools
Stripe Payment Links - With Stripe payment links, you can easily generate a link to get others to pay you for products and services. I'm trying it out for adhoc consultation payments!
Community Copilot - Improve engagement and reduce churn in your communities by using this tool, which comes with a CRM packed with actionable insights. It's seriously a community manager's dream come true with the time-saving messaging features. Primarily works on Slack, with Circle features coming soon!
Dr Memes - Free meme generator that allows you to create memes without sign-up, and without watermarks. Generous.
Bubbles - Collaborate with anyone by giving feedback on landing pages and sites, without having to login with this free Chrome Extension. I couldn't live without this tool before and it keeps getting better. In some ways, it's better than providing feedback in a Loom video as people can skip to the exact spot on a page where a change needs to be made.
