Hey everyone, what’s up! My name is Bagavan Marakathalingasivam(wow that was long)! I am a 14-year-old innovator, and aspiring entrepreneur whose one goal in life is to impact the world (in a non-demonic way 😉)
The month of May didn't have any cool hackathons, crazy events or anything like that (unlike other months XD), but it was still a really interesting one. I started writing on Postulate, joined an ML club, and sadly, had my last session at TKS this year :(
But don't worry, because I'm sure to make the rest of the summer a blast!
Writting on Postulate
This month, I got beta access to a platform called Postulate - it's essentially a writing platform that allows you to take notes and publish your ideas instead of forgetting them (I just took that from the first words on the website XD)
I wrote four different posts on Postulate: one was about a fireside chat I had with an author, another was about mindsets, and the last two were about machine learning papers.
I've been up to a lot of things this month, but here are some of the biggest ones.
ML Research Papers
I know I know, it might be getting a bit annoying, that I'm talking about ML, but this month was different, I promise :)
Instead of just building cool projects, I also started reading more research papers and get a better understanding of the theory behind ML. I also started to write summaries of those papers (on postulate)
With school ending in a month and the summer starting, I thought I'd 10x my machine learning skills by looking for internships around those fields. I've been outreaching to many people, applying, building projects, etc..
So if you know anyone working in the field of AI/ML you can always send a message and help me out here 😅
This month, I also got the opportunity to be part of a fireside chat with Gorick Ng, the author of "The Unspoken Rules" - a book talking more about how to succeed in any career path!
Check out some of my takeaways from that chat here!
Mindset for the Month
Alright, this is one of the most important mindsets that I think you should know. Exceeding expectations!
If your parents were going out to get food or something, and they tell you to empty the dishwasher you would probably do it. But, what if instead of doing that, you also loaded the dishwasher, started it, and got the dishes cleaning, and then also started to make dinner. What do you think your parents will be like when they come back..... 😲😲😲😲 <-- your parents faces XD
This doesn't even have to be for home stuff. If you exceed the expectations (which can even be things that take a small effort to do) it will bring 100x results!
Reading ~3 research papers a week + writing summaries about them
Outreaching to 20-30 people a day for internship hunting
Building at least 2 legit AI projects (with a UI and everything)
Write 1 article a week (on medium and/or postulate)
At the beginning of the year, Carlos had started a series known as "100 Nano-Stories Bookmarked" - where he talks about different topics in the field of Nanotech and nanomaterials (specifically aerogel and graphene) over the span of 100 articles!
and...... HE DID IT!! 🥳🥳🥳
This might not seem like a big deal, BUT IT'S HUGE!!
Share him some love and check out some of the stories!
