The OU faced Hertford College, University of Oxford. Elinor, Mike, Ann and James (pictured sitting left to right with BBC presenter Amol Rajan in the centre) did an incredible job.
In this issue, we share links to some of our OU paid short courses. Have you ever fancied taking up creative writing? You can learn how to build your characters and create compelling dialogue in a new short course beginning in February. Or how about learning Italian? Our Beginners Italian 1: primi passi course is taught entirely online, with the aid of a learning adviser to offer support where needed.
You will also find out about new academic research led by The Open University and the University of St Andrews which suggests Donald Trump’s January 6th speech served as a ‘warrant’ for the storming of the Capitol building. Plus, Monica Grady, Professor in Planetary Sciences at the OU, provides her thoughts on new claims by Professor Avi Loeb from Harvard University, that he and his team have recovered fragments believed to be from beyond our Solar System.
Our colleagues in the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths are currently advertising a fully-funded, full-time PhD opportunity. The closing date is 2 October so if you're interested in applying, don't delay!
I really hope you enjoy September's issue. I always love to hear from our alumni so don't forget that you can contact me using the e-mail address below and I will come back to you as quickly as possible. Thank you for being such a valued member of the OU family.
