Kia ora tātau,
It has been a big couple of weeks for our children and school community.
The Bellbirds Choir, led by Loren Easterbrook, performed beautifully at our Peninsula Choral Festival and The Kids Sing held on Monday. Many hours of rehearsals have gone into these performances, and everyone involved should be very proud of the progress made this year. The photos and videos of the Bellbirds' performance at The Holy Trinity Church (available on our school Facebook page) are fantastic.
The International Assembly was amazing. I felt so proud to see the diverse cultures in our school celebrated by everyone. Thank you to all the children, parents, and staff who helped make this event a success. Special thanks to Danica Everett, who works with students learning English as a second language, for really motivating all students to take pride in their heritage.
Art Week, last week, organised by Stacey Sykes and the teachers, was incredible. The hall is now covered with artwork from each pupil. It's always inspiring to see the creativity, colour, attention to detail, and the variety of artwork that the teachers help the children produce.
I know that the children (and some parents) have also been working very hard on writing, learning, and presenting their speeches to their class. Although for many children this is a challenging and sometimes intimidating task, the skills learnt are genuinely valuable, and we can see the positive impact this learning has on our students. I look forward to listening to the speeches of those who have made the finals next week.
Many thanks to everyone who has been nominated for the upcoming Board Elections. Information about the voting process will be sent to all eligible voters soon. I encourage everyone to cast their vote—it's essential that the school Board is made up of individuals committed to their governance role and deeply dedicated to the school.
Rooms 6 and 7 are leading tomorrow’s assembly at 9am. I’ve seen some snippets of their rehearsals and can tell you it’s going to be pretty cute! Everyone is welcome to join us.
Ngā mihi nui
