    Food for Thought

    Agree do disagree

I'm sure I am not the only one who is worried about the US elections - it appears that people cannot even discuss with others who have voted for a different person. Threat of unrest is very real, no matter what the end result will be.

It is a sign of civilized mind to be able to agree to disagree. We simply cannot agree with everyone else in this world. And so we cannot react with aggression towards those who think differently.

People who have differing opinions are not any worse than you. Nor are you any worse than they are, no matter what they say. We each have our reasons for our opinions and it isn't likely anyone will change their opinion when confronted in an angry manner.

So agree to disagree on a matter, and find common ground in other matters you can agree on. If you can discuss without great emotion about something you disagree on, by all means do. But don't start yelling and telling the other one is wrong. It usually only ends up with all parties digging themselves even deeper in the trenches of their opinions.

And sometimes it is quite a relief to say to yourself "I don't need to express an opinion about this."

Try it. The next time someone tries to draw you into an argument say to yourself "I don't need to express an opinion about this." Feel how that feels. You might be surprised.

      Picture of the day
      Lantern

It was a dark and rainy evening and the balcony looked so gloomy we just put these fairy lights inside a big lantern to give some light to the darkness. (The picture is not black and white, which gives you an idea how dark it was).

      Daily Funny
      Sad Strawberry

"What do you call a sad strawberry?"

      "A blue berry."

Do you have a funny story you would like to see published in this letter? An event, what someone said? If so, send me your funny story in an email

      Blue Bike

My mother sent me this picture - she had been out for a walk. An immigrant couple from a neighboring house had made this little piece of art to their yard. This made me smile - cute isn't it?

"The test of a man's or woman's upbringing is how they behave in a quarrel."

Writing Blog / Breaks from Writing

As a writer with million other things to do it is easy to feel guilty for all the writing that should be done.

Still, if there is no real deadline (like a publisher tapping their foot and glancing at the calendar), that might be just the moment not to write.

Stress doesn't create good text. If I notice I am beginning to growl at life for stealing my writing time, I step back and spend a day not writing at all. Giving myself permission to relax feels... well, relaxing!

I sell my books directly too. The ebooks are cheap to buy and the big e-stores don't share much of the price with the authors. That is why I have downloaded my books to Payhip - they don't take a commission which makes it easier for me to pay my editor, proofreader and cover designer.
