As we continue our look at children in the Bible, we’re reminded throughout scripture of how precious and fragile a child’s life is. We’re truly blessed to be called children of God – and to be welcomed so gladly by our loving Father. This morning, we meet a very young Isaac…

Issac was the miracle child born to Abraham and Sarah in their old age. Isaac’s birth fulfilled God’s promise that Abraham would become the father of a great people.

When Issac was a young boy, God asked Abraham to take his son to a mountain to sacrifice him.

In Genesis 22:12, we learn at the moment Abraham tied Issac up, the angel of the Lord stopped him.. “ He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.”

Isaac’s faith and obedience when Abraham bound him as a sacrifice is exemplary, for he must have truly believed what his father had told him in Genesis 22:8: “And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.”

Throughout most of his life, Isaac followed in Abraham’s footsteps expressing the same faith.

To God Be The Glory for Isaac! Throughout his childhood, Isaac could very well have resented his father for offering him as a sacrifice. Yet Isaac was an obedient son. He had faith that led him to be willing to die in obedience and submission to his father and to the Lord. Isaac learned at an early age the invaluable lesson of trusting God and that makes Isaac one of the most influential young people in the Bible.

The Pastor Search Committee thanks the congregation for entrusting us with the responsibility of identifying potential candidates for the pastoral position. Our Missionaries and Youth prepared and served sandwiches to families at the Ronald McDonald House, a lodging facility for families with children in the local hospitals for medical care. 

The following missionaries and youth: Shelby Boyd, Alyce Emerson, McKinley Emerson, Charmaine Hill, Angela Jackson, Emerson Jackson, Lindsey Leath, and Lisa Leath. 

The menu sandwiches included: beef bologna, chicken salad, peanut butter & jelly, Black forest ham & cheese, turkey and cheese and honey ham & cheese.

To God Be the Glory for the Opportunity to Serve!

As we continue our study of Timothy from "Great Characters of the Bible," the Youth are learning, like Timothy, the importance of building a strong faith in Christ and learning and understanding scripture at a young age. With his commitment to spreading the gospel, Timothy was able to bring so many to Christ. With 11 Youth in attendance this past Wednesday, including one of our newest members, Bro. Roman White, and a "friend" of one of our Youth, we will continue to follow Timothy's example of talking about the goodness of God's Word and encourage other Youth to join us! As we complete our study of Timothy within the next couple of weeks, we will move on to our next character, Paul, Timothy's mentor.

The Youth Ministry meets every 2nd Wednesday In-Person and every 4th Wednesday via Zoom (Meeting ID: 867 3355 4109) at 7:00 pm. Also please check your GroupMe for our weekly updates and reminders!

WE ARE ONE!

On Saturday afternoon, the Youth Ministry, in partnership with the Education Ministry, hosted the inaugural Krystal D. Gill-Jones Back-to-School Bash in preparation for our children's return to school! Oh what a blessed event it was! Our Youth got a chance to interact with each student and we were able to fill over 40 backpacks with back-to-school blessings! Following an afternoon of service, the Youth then went to Southland Bowling Lanes to fellowship for some friendly competition!

We would like to thank our Church family and all of the ministries for their generous and abundant donations! We would like to say a "special" thank you to Bro. William Bland for his time and individual prayers for each and every student and also, to the members of the Education Ministry for their words of encouragement to the students.

On behalf of the Youth Ministry and our entire Church family, we pray for and wish each and every student a wonderfully blessed, safe and successful school year! To God Be The Glory!

Cracker Barrel's Hashbrown Casserole

Ingredients

2 lbs. frozen hashbrowns

1/2 cup melted butter

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 pt. sour cream

1/2 cup chopped onion

2 cups grated cheddar

1 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

2 cups crushed cornflakes

1/4 cup melted butter

Directions

DEFROST hashbrowns.

COMBINE next 7 ingr. and mix with hashbrowns.

PUT all in a 3 qt. casserole.

SAUTE cornflakes in butter and sprinkle on top.

COVER and BAKE at 350 for about 40 min.

Current Focus: I am currently a student at Colorado Technical University pursuing my Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and Human Services. Why this Career?: As a Certified Peer Support Specialist, I use my passion for helping people. This career allows me to use my own experiences to support others, which I find incredibly rewarding.

What do you want your church family to know about you?: I am a loving mother of three adult
children and a grandmother of two. My family is very important to me, and I cherish the time we spend
together. During my free time, I love to cook and create meals for them.

Really! I LOVE TO COOK! Did I already say that?  And I mean, it. I will cook pretty much anything my
family wants. I am an ol’ school cook when it comes to Sunday dinner. Roast & potatoes, fresh greens,
mac & cheese, and vegetables. Top it off with corn bread and a glass of iced tea. Good ole church tea,
like my Mama made. I thank GOD for my Mama every day. I miss her. Still.

My mother, the late Dorothy L. Stewart, went Home to be with the Lord on December 30th, 2015. She
was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. My father is Joe C. Stewart Sr. He is a member of
Jimtown Baptist Church. I am thankful that they introduced me to our loving Heavenly Father. One way I serve our Heavenly Father is by being an usher at our church. Being an usher helps me to feel more connected. It’s a great way to get to know people while serving alongside dedicated members of the congregation.

Is there anything special your church can do for you? The most important thing you can do for my
family and me is to keep us in your prayers. Please know that we will be praying for our church family
and your loved ones, as well.

What do you want your church family to know about GOD?: I want them to know that our GOD is a source of unending love, grace, and forgiveness. HE is always there for us, even in our most difficult
moments.

Hope For Mental Health

Mental illness brings shame and we think Jesus is ashamed of us too, He is NOT!

Our minds love to remind us of the past. We find ourselves looking back and focusing on our mistakes. As christians , we are challenged to look to what Christ has already done. When we see our scars, we need not be cast down because Christ has taken upon Himself the hurt, shame, pain, guilt, and sin. The power of the enemy holds no power over us because of the Precious Blood of the Lamb. We are redeemed by His overcoming power. Choose to see His scars that brings us life.

FLU

Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.

RSV

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.

COVID-19

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.

The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.

Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
