Four years ago today, I released my VERY FIRST ROMANCE NOVEL ever. It's hard to believe it was so long ago, but time really flies when you're doing what you love... which for me is writing about love.
To celebrate, Look But Don't Touch has gotten a new discreet paperback cover and I discounted the ebook to 0.99 🥳
Want to know a secret about this book?
It did terribly in the beginning. I think it maybe sold eleven copies in its first three months. I was a newbie author, and knew nothing at all about publishing, marketing, titles, and covers... oh man. The very first cover for Look But Don't Touch was not to market at all.
Writing my first book started a fire in me, and I couldn't help but keep typing away. The second project became Arrogant Boss, and with it, readers found both of my books. It set me on a path I'm so grateful I walked down.
And to think all of it started with Ada and Grant, the grumpy CEO and the bratty intern in Look But Don't Touch... I think they'd both be quite proud of that.
Thanks again for all of your support these past four years. Here's to many, many more of fun storytelling!
Thank you, Olivia
PS: Scroll on for a (fake) interview with Ada and Grant, where I asked them why readers might be interested in their love story...
New discreet covers
My two first books both have discreet options! They're matte, textured, watercolor goodness, and boy are they discreet.
And as always, the cover with the stunning male model isn't going anywhere. Both are available.
"The people want to know, why is your love story special?"
Ada: Oh, gosh. Because it was so explosive! I hated Grant for so long... he was everything I knew I should be, but wasn't. Plus, I knew he hated me.
Grant (frowning): I never hated you.
Ada: Don't lie, honey.
Grant (frowns deeper): I'm not. Sure, I thought you were... wasting your potential, and that you were spoiled, but hate wasn't the emotion I felt. Not even close.
"You worked together, right? How did that go?"
Grant: It went alright.
Ada: No, it went terribly! I was the intern, and I wasn't exactly excited by the job.
Grant: That's true. I remember how angry you were at your father for forcing you to work at the family company.
Ada: Yeah. It wasn't the job, really, but having to report to Grant, who was the CEO at the time.
Grant: Sweetheart, I'm still the CEO.
Ada(rolls her eyes): Yes, yes, of course. But back then I hated that fact. I also knew he wanted me to fail, so I did my absolute best to prove him wrong. I was examplary.
At this, Grant Wood chuckles and runs a hand along his jaw.
Ada: What? I was, wasn't I?
Grant: Yeah, you were, and I was proved wrong indeed.
"Okay, one final question... why do you think people enjoy reading about how you two overcame your animosity and fell in love?"
Grant: I don't have the faintest idea.
Ada: That's not true. You know. We had fun, the two of us.
Grant(looks over at Ada with a slow smile): Yeah, we did. Plenty of fun. Like in the storage room at work...
Grant: It's true.
Ada (laughing): Yes, it is. We both had a lot to overcome to get there, but... we did it in the end. Even we sure did argue a lot on the way. If your readers like a lot stupid banter and enemies-becoming-lovers, they'll probably like us.
