During any year, we don't really support teachers' growth if we just judge their practice and tell them what they are doing wrong, but especially during this year, we have to stop this harmful approach to the evaluation process.
Instead, we have to learn how to coach within the teacher evaluation process. We know that all of us benefit from coaching - from having the support of someone to help us think through challenges we are facing and to provide feedback to help us improve. But in so many schools, there aren’t enough coaches to work with every teacher, so evaluators must fill this important need and provide coaching within the evaluation process.
