2022 - A Year In Review
It's been quite the year at the GEDC!
The GEDC and the Grundy County Chamber received a $600,000 economic resiliency grant and began work towards a diversification plan for Grundy's economy.
Grundy County received a $400,000 IDOT grant for a comprehensive transportation plan.
CPV Three Rivers Energy Center is nearing construction completion on its $1 billion, 1,250 MW natural gas plant, which will be operational in mid-2023.
Procter & Gamble opened its 1.3 million sq. ft. distribution facility in Morris in Q3 2022.
Walmart is nearing completion of its 500,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Minooka.
Costco’s new 1 million sq. ft. facility just north of the meat processing plant opened in late 2022. Costco acquired an additional 200 acres for future development.
The Grundy County Summer Internship Program completed its 10th year continuing to provide local employers with a talent pipeline and encouraging Grundy County’s best and brightest to return to their communities to start careers.
GEDC continued to market Grundy County at broker events, through RFI submissions, and at economic conferences.
Key GEDC events this year included its Legislative Breakfast, Annual Dinner, Summer Investor Event, Broker Breakfast, and Energy Markets Luncheon.

Project USPA - A food processing company is seeking a greenfield site. Properties were submitted to Intersect Illinois.
CSX/CN Rail-Served Sites - Rail-served locations in Channahon, Minooka, and Morris are under consideration for logistics and manufacturing uses.
Logistic Parks – US Rt. 6 - There are multiple properties under contract in the Rt. 6/Brisbin Road region considering logistics-related facilities.
Coal City Rail Projects - Multiple projects looking for property on the UP rail line in Coal City.

Grant Funds Available to Assist Grundy Businesses - Are your employees in need of training? The Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board has $10,000 in Incumbent Worker training grant funds that must be spent by June 30, 2023. These grant dollars are intended to help employers offset their training costs for current employees who need new or upgraded skills. If your business is considering employee training in the near future please contact the Workforce Board to see how they can help! Funds are available on a first, come first serve basis.
