Celebrating Success - Thurston Pharmacy

Congratulations to Thurston Pharmacy on winning another award, this time it's the Pharmacy Business of the Year at the Independent Pharmacies Association award ceremony. We contacted Jasvinder Lavi, who gave us the comment below. 

"It’s a testament to our patients who have faith in us regarding their healthcare, and it’s also a huge thank you to our team. You are only as good as your team, and we have absolute diamonds in our team who work day in and day out to care for all our patients and their needs.

We are very grateful that we have Managers and staff who share our vision. Despite limited opportunities growing up and no family connections in the Pharmacy world, we have pursued our passion for providing excellent healthcare. A small independent chain, all achieved without a head office, no middle management or inherited networks, Parv is a testament to his self-made success and unwavering commitment to excellence. Our focus has always been on delivering an accessible, compassionate, and innovative Pharmacy Services that go above and beyond what our patients need and desire.

Both Local ICBs Launch First Mandatory Health Campaign

All Community Pharmacies are required to participate in up to two ICB health campaigns each year. The ICBs in Norfolk and Suffolk have announced that the first campaign will focus on Reducing Medicines Waste.

All pharmacies across Norfolk and Suffolk should look out for communications from your ICB and follow the instructions provided. Details for each ICB area will also be available at these links Norfolk ICB information  SNEE ICB information. 

Funding to Support Integration - Norfolk & Waveney Pharmacies

Primary Care Workforce has been able to allocate some funds to pharmacies/practices who are employing a newly qualified pharmacist or pharmacy technician to support their induction and integration into the workforce. The scheme has been run for other primary care professionals, and it is the first time that this has been run for pharmacists.

EoI to complete for the funding which will close on 1 December.

Empowering Pharmacy Technicians to provide services using PGD’s workshop

9.30am Coffee and registration.

10am – 12.30pm CPPE Workshop

12.30pm – 1.30pm Lunch and networking opportunity to meet stakeholders

This workshop is a collaboration of N&W ICB – NHSE – CPNS and CPPE to empower Pharmacy Technicians to apply their skills and knowledge confidently and competently when using Patient Group Directions (PGDs) to deliver NHS services using contraception, emergency contraception and smoking cessation services as examples.

Supporting those offering Flu vaccinations - Extra November Campaign

All pharmacies will have received the Gateway message PHA969 explaining the upcoming non-mandatory extra campaign. The national vaccination team is planning a vaccine communications campaign through November. The main focus is on flu vaccines. This means you may have increased footfall or enquiries about the service as a result of the promotion. Promotional materials are available from CPE here. 

Children's Flu vaccination. This may also be an opportunity to pop to or call your local nursery to advertise children’s Flu vaccines in your pharmacy. Resources can be found here.
