Just as a reminder (if you have not been around these parts before) part of the beauty of the ExtraGive is the generosity of the Lancaster County Community Foundation and the key sponsors of the day, the High Foundation and the Murry Foundation, in passing along 100% of the proceeds to the participating organizations with no fees or charges from the Foundations. There is a credit card transaction fee charged by the card processors, of course. No gettin' around that one!

NEWS OF NOTE

Visitors to the Bunker Hill area of Michaux State Forest will soon be greeted with more information on the cultural and natural history of the area.

Your support of PPFF, along with grants from the Alexander Stewart MD Foundation and Bass Pro Shops and Cabella's Outdoor Fund, supported the purchase and installation of a kiosk.

Don't like sharing news like this - the Gravel Lick Shelter along the Susquehannock Trail near the Hammersley Wild Area burned over the weekend. Apparently a careless hiker didn't use the provided fire ring and/or make sure their fire was out before moving on. Plans are already underway to rebuild; I suspect the Susquehannock Trail Club would not turn away contributions to support the effort.

Below, a timely reminder.

In Chapter news, we found out this week that long-time Chair of the Friends of Oil Creek Peg Sims is stepping down from the position. Similarly, Terri Christopher of the Friends of Pinchot is likewise stepping back.

We are so grateful to these women for their service and dedication. Neither is leaving their group entirely, thankfully!

The Friends of Pinchot are seeking someone to handle Volunteer and/or Membership Coordinator duties. If you can help, get in touch with Terri please and learn more about what's needed.

Tune in this morning at 11:00 on WXAC - Albright College Radio - for a visit with Kim Bischoff, the Assistant Park Manager at French Creek State Park with some insight into hiking at French Creek for National Take a Hike Day.

Bill and I got to do a little ride in the sunshine the other day. This is one of our favorite little spaces along the Great Allegheny Passage - we always look out for "the pumas in the cravasses" here.

Donated to the Commonwealth;
Meant to preserve open space and conserve the parcel's natural resources;
Designed to provide low-impact recreation and education opportunities;
Characterized as a large area with few improvements and no through roads.

This week? Well, our key question for the day on ExtraGive is a vote-thing so we'll extend that to the trivia space!
