The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has received a report about an incident that occurred 60NM Southwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen.
The captain of a ship reported the presence of two missiles near the vessel. Coalition forces intercepted the first missile, while the second hit the water at a distance from the ship. The ship did not sustain any damage and the crew members are safe. The ship is now heading to its next port of call.
The EU mission Aspides, launched in February to protect commercial maritime trade from drone and missile attacks by Yemen's Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists, stated in a press release that the German Sachsen-class frigate HESSEN (F221) had intercepted a missile attack from Houthi controlled territories, adding "The action performed by HESSEN was effective, avoiding any damage to seafarers and merchant shipping."
Authorities are currently investigating the incident. Ships are advised to proceed with caution in this area and report any suspicious activities to the UKMTO.
