Dear Reader ,
As Russian aggression against Ukraine continues, Ukrainian civil society requires the support of the global community. The EaP CSF Ukrainian National Platform urges EaP CSF members to spread reliable information about Russia’s war against Ukraine, help Ukrainian refugees and CSOs, and to assist law enforcement agencies in their countries to prevent sexual violence against Ukrainian refugees.
Moreover, during the 11th EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform meeting, the EaP CSF took part in discussions, linked to humanitarian aid to Ukraine and the country’s potential EU membership, resulting in a Joint Declaration.
The war in Ukraine expedited discussions about the future of the EaP policy. Ana Furtuna, EaP CSF Secretariat Director argues that it is essential to maintain a strong regional EaP framework, all while acting on Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia's applications for EU status.
The EaP CSF also took part in the Senior Officials Meeting on Belarus. Representative Nikolai Kvantaliani called attention to the situation of political prisoners in Belarus and the need to recognise Belarusian CSOs registered abroad as Belarusian CSOs.
Finally, the EaP CSF Steering Committee condemned the disproportionate use of violence by police against Bakhtiyar Hajiyev in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Yours,
EaP CSF Secretariat
