During the past two years, newly elected school board throughout NJ began to push back. They included Ethel Hermenau & Ginny Larrea in Galloway and Cathy Panico, Liz Nicoletti & Robin Shaffer in Ocean City. Democrats responded by proposing a new law with the Orwellian title "Freedom To Read Act". 

It would give un-elected government employees who are members of “woke” teacher and librarian unions absolute power to decide which books are in school libraries.

Last Friday, I drove on Florida’s Route A1A from Collins Ave. in Miami Beach to Ocean Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. Thirty miles of economic boom, new construction, clean, friendly, cheerful, safe streets, sidewalks, parks and restaurants. Compare it to 30 miles on NJ Ave. in Wildwood to Atlantic or Pacific Avenues in Atlantic City, NJ. Besides having as many potholes as roads in third world countries, Atlantic and Pacific Avenues have the ambiance of a Zombie Apocalypse movie. In Atlantic City, the building of a new carwash was reported as major “redevelopment”.  In NJ, almost all major new construction is directly or indirectly funded by government.

Every Saturday morning, we meet over breakfast in Somers Point. We talk about the most important issues of the week. Some 300 years ago, Benjamin Franklin observed that ordinary Americans were better informed that the elites of Europe because we had open and honest conversations and learned from each other.

Last Thursday, a fire on underneath the Central Pier destroyed dozens of Boardwalk businesses preparing to open for the 10 week tourist season in Atlantic City. It was started by one of the dozens, if not hundreds,of hoboes, tramps and bums who live under the Boardwalk and ocean piers. Long time Boardwalk merchants, Bob and Abe Schiff had begged local and state officials to remove them for years by enforcing trespassing laws.  Last November, a similar fire destroyed a large section of Boardwalk by North Carolina Avenue and damaged the Resorts Casino.
