Principal’s Comments:

Dear Parents and Friends of the School,

Thanks to Jarrad and Rachel Reid for all your work in supporting the Spring Fiesta which is this Saturday, and of course the PTA for all your time and work. This will be another fun social occasion with a great band, and some fantastic auction items will be up for grabs. If you have not got a ticket yet please do so. I understand there will be some door sales as well.

Thank you to the PTA in supporting the school's purchase of a new kiln. The staff and children are most appreciative.

Thank you to all the parent helpers for the Junior School trip to Butterfly Creek. The kids had a great time.

A reminder that it is the school's athletics days next Thursday and Friday. If you can make it along during the day you are most welcome. The Year 1 & 2s are between 9 -10.30am on Thursday, and the Yr 3-6s start their sprints at 11am, then they do the first 4 field events between 1.30-3 and on Friday the last 4 field events will also be between 1.30 and 3pm for Yr 3 -6s.

Our school Kapa Haka is at Hauraki School on Friday 15 November, but in the morning, and at Onepoto for their annual Kapa Haka festival on Friday 22 November.

The children will be starting their assessments next week and end of year reports will be sent home on the last day of school. A reminder about dates and times for prize givingsgivings. Year 1-3 is Monday 9 December at 1.30pm, Yr 4-6 Monday 16 1.15pm. Our last day of school will be Thursday 19 December and we will close at midday.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge all the staff who have been upskilling in regard to literacy and numeracy as part of the new curriculum. Our school is all ready to start next year and we are ahead of many schools nationwide (and locally) in regards to being prepared, resourced and upskilled.

It is NOT too late to buy your tickets and come and enjoy this awesome night out and support the school at the same time.

Guitar and Ukulele Lessons at Belmont Primary School

Musiqhub offers Guitar and Ukulele tuition to students at Belmont Primary School with experienced tutor Dave Gatman.

Students learn a range of traditional and contemporary styled songs and techniques where they play together as a group and take turns to play to the group as individuals. This format creates a relaxed and fun environment for students to learn in and is popular in schools around the country.

The lessons are during school hours on Tuesdays and are available to students in Year 2 and older.

Dave has a few spaces for lessons in Term 4. If you are interested, please contact Dave on 021 2221456, or dave.gatman@musiqhub.co.nz.
