Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
On September 24, 2021, USET SPF signed on to a letter with national and regional Tribal partner organizations urging Congress to protect Native American voting rights. The letter was led by the National Congress of American Indians and the Native American Rights Fund. It requests Congressional action to support access to voting polls on Tribal lands and ensure safeguards against voting disenfranchisement. Additionally, the letter requests protections for the use of Tribally issued IDs and making election day a federal holiday to ensure maximum opportunity and access for voters across the country. The letter also requests swift action on S. 4263, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, S. 2747, the Freedom to Vote Act, and H.R. 5008 and S. 2702, the Frank Harrison, Elizabeth Peratrovich, and Miguel Trujillo Native American Voting Rights Act.
