Meet EIGE's new director

Carlien Scheele is EIGE’s new director. She plans to cement EIGE's position as the EU's knowledge centre on gender equality by deepening cooperation with other organisations and stressing EIGE’s added value. Ms Scheele is from the Netherlands and has nearly 30 years' experience working on equality-related topics. Find out more here.

What’s the best country for parental leave?

Estonia, Finland and Sweden top the list for the most inclusive parental leave schemes in the EU. Nearly 100% of women and men are eligible regardless of their work situation or their relationship status. Find out where your country stands on parental leave in our latest report here.

Albania and Montenegro publish their first Gender Equality Indices

The scores are now in for Albania and Montenegro, who have just released their own Gender Equality Indices. Albania scored 60.4 points out of 100, while Montenegro scored 55 points. The 2019 EU average is 67.4. The Index will help the countries to monitor gender equality progress, identify challenges and plan future measures. Read more here.

EIGE to estimate FGM risk in four more countries

Female genital mutilation is a reality in Europe. This year, EIGE will put the spotlight on Denmark, Spain, Luxembourg and Austria and estimate how many girls are at risk in these countries. See how EIGE estimates the risk of FGM in this step-by-step guide and find previous risk estimations here.

EU Prize for Women Innovators 2020

This prize from the European Commission recognises inspiring women in the field of innovation. Three winners will receive €100,000 each, and another €50,000 will be awarded to a Rising Innovator, who is starting out her career. Apply before 21 April
