Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
On February 7, 2022 the Department of the Interior (DOI) published a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing Tribal consultations on Executive Order 14053, “Public Safety and Criminal Justice for Native Americans and Addressing the Crisis of Missing or Murdered Indigenous People” (E.O. 14053). These consultations are focused on improving federal coordination efforts to prevent and respond to violence against Tribal citizens, as well as address the crisis of missing or murdered Indigenous people. DOI is coordinating with the Departments of Justice, Health and Human Services, Energy, and Homeland Security on this initiative.
The Tribal consultation dates on E.O. 14053 are scheduled as follows—
March 9, 2022 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm PT
March 10, 2022 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm MT
March 11, 2022 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm ET
