This CRISPR animation also covers the history of gene editing, including zinc finger nucleases (ZFN), transcription activator-like effector nuclease (TALE nucleases, TALEN). A history of Jennifer Doudna, Emmanuelle Charpentier, Francisco Mojica, David Liu, and their contributions are described, such as the development of base editing and prime editing. We also go beyond just cutting DNA and discuss how CRISPR turns gene expression on (CRISPR activation, CRISPRa) and off (CRISPR inhibition, CRISPRi) to fluorescently tagging particular sequences (e.g. GFP). Research Statement
This research explores the current capabilities of the US military to use electromagnetic (EMF) devices to harass, intimidate, and kill individuals and the continuing possibilities of violations of human rights by the testing and deployment of these weapons. To establish historical precedent in the US for such acts, we document long-term human rights and freedom of thought violations by US military/intelligence organizations. Additionally, we explore contemporary evidence of on-going government research in EMF weapons technologies and examine the potentialities of continuing human rights abuses.
In the 1950s and 60s the CIA began work to find means for influencing human cognition, emotion and behavior. Through the use of the psychological understanding of the human being as a social animal and the ability to manipulate a subjectâs environment through isolation, drugs and hypnosis, US funded scientists have long searched for better means of controlling human behavior. This research has included the use of wireless directed electromagnetic energy under the heading of âInformation Warfareâ and âNon Lethal Weapons.â
New technological capabilities have been developed in black budget projects[1] over the last few decadesâincluding the ability to influence human emotion, disrupt thought, and present excruciating pain through the manipulation of magnetic fields. The US military and intelligence agencies have at their disposal frightful new weapons, weapons that have likely already been covertly used and/or tested on humans, both here and abroad, and which could be directed against the public in the event of mass protests or civil disturbance.
Human Rights belong to people collectively. To believe in rights for some and not others is a denial of the humanness of people worldwide. Yet, denial is exactly what Congress and George W. Bush did with the signing of the Military Commission Act of 2006. The new official US policy is that torture and suspension of due process are acceptable for anyone the president deems to be a terrorist or supporter. This act is the overt denial of the inalienable rights of human beings propagated in our Declaration of Independence and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. More so, US actions declared to the world that the US suspends human rights for those it believes are evil.
The precious words, âWe hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,â did not declare that only some men (and women) possess unalienable rights. Our independence was founded on the understanding that all men and women are recognized by this nation as having innate rights derived by their humanity.
Likewise, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, created by the United Nations in 1948, signed and ratified by the US Congress, specifies in its preamble that ârecognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.â
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights has been a guide for international law for most of six decades, and as such binds the United States to its general principles. Article 10 states that âeveryone is entitled to full equality, to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him,â and Article 5 specifically prohibits torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. Both of these basic human rights have been superceded by the passage the of Military Commissions Act of 2006.
Additionally, the Universal Declaration of Human rights declares that everyone has the right to freedom of thought and freedom of expression and opinion. This means that humans have the inalienable right to be able to freely think their own thoughts and discover their own truths. This paper addresses this most fundamental human right and explores the pending threats to individual freedom of thought posed by new EMF weapons technologies.
Freedom of thought or cognitive liberty is the natural human right of each person to be secure in their ability to perceive the world to the best of their ability. To have true cognitive liberty in a world as complex as ours would mean that first we must have access to truthful and unbiased information about the actions of others and the general state of the world.
The Center for Cognitive Liberties defines this as âthe right of each individual to think independently and autonomously, to use the full spectrum of his or her mind, and to engage in multiple modes of thought.â[2] Without accurate representations we cannot make independently informed choices. It is imperative that the human body and mind be considered sacrosanct. To invade a personâs body without their consent is an egregious human rights crime.
The circumstance may soon arrive in which anti-war or human rights protesters suddenly feel a burning sensation akin to touching a hot skillet over their entire body. Simultaneously they may hear terrifying nauseating screaming, which while not produced externally, fills their brains with overwhelming disruption. Not only are both phenomena currently possible, but designs for more powerful EMF technologies receive continuous funding from the US Government.
We are in a time of extremism, permanent war, and the unilateral manifestation of ethnocentrism and power by a cabal of people in the US government. These power elites have been in operation for decades and are set on nothing less than the total US military domination of the world. They defy the foundational values of the American people to achieve their ends. This is not a new phenomenon. The repression of human rights has been present within the US Government throughout our history. [3]

The value of silence is felt by everyone at some point in their life. Silence is comforting, nourishing and cosy. It opens us up to inspiration, and nurtures the mind, body and soul. Meanwhile, the madness of the noisy world is drowning out our creativity, our inner connection and hampering our resilience. Science is now showing that silence may be just what we need to regenerate our exhausted brains and bodies.
Studies show that noise has a powerful physical effect on our brains, causing elevated levels of stress hormones. Sound travels to the brain as electrical signals via the ear. Even when we are sleeping these sound waves cause the body to react and activate the amygdala, the part of the brain associated with memory and emotion, leading to the release of stress hormones. So, living in a consistently noisy environment will cause you to experience extremely high levels of these harmful hormones.
Interestingly, the word noise is said to come from the Latin word nausia, (disgust or nausea) or the Latin word noxia, meaning hurt, damage or injury. Noise has been linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, tinnitus and loss of sleep. Weâve all experienced the detrimental effects of noise pollution. Excessive noise can be a major affront to the physical senses and today, more and more people are identifying as highly sensitive and unable to function in chaotic and noisy environments. But now science has the proof not only that noise hurts, but also that silence heals.
The Effects of Silence
In 2011, the World Health Organisation (WHO) examined and quantified its health burden in Europe. It concluded that the 340 million residents of Western Europe (about the population of the United States), were losing a million years of healthy life every year, due to noise. WHO also said that the root cause of 3,000 heart disease deaths was due to excessive noise. A study by Professor Gary W. Evans from Cornell University, published in Psychological Science, charted the effects of airport noise on school children near Munichâs airport. The study showed that children exposed to noise developed a stress response which actually caused them to ignore the noise. He found that the children ignored both the harmful noise of the airport, along with other more everyday noises, such as speech.
This study is among the strongest, probably the most definitive proof that noiseâeven at levels that do not produce any hearing damageâcauses stress and is harmful to humans. â Professor Gary Evans.
Scientists didnât actively set out to study the effects of silence, but instead discovered its benefits by accident. Silence first began to appear in scientific research as a control or baseline, against which scientists compare the effects of noise or music. Physician Luciano Bernardi studied the physiological effects of noise and music in 2006, making a startling discovery. When the subjects of his study were exposed to the random stretches of silence in between the noise and music, they experienced a powerful effect. The two minute pauses were far more relaxing for the brain than the relaxing music or the longer silence that was in place before the experiment started. In fact, Bernardiâs âirrelevantâ blank pauses became the most important aspect of the study. One of his key findings was that silence is heightened by contrasts.
Many meditation teachers and practitioners can attest to this, and spiritual teachers advise students to take frequent meditative pauses throughout the day. Though we may think of silence as a lack of input, science says otherwise. The brain recognises silence and responds powerfully. Later research by a Duke University regenerative biologist, Imke Kirste, discovered that two hours of silence per day prompted cell development in the hippocampus, the brain region related to the formation of memory, involving the senses.
Taking Time to Switch Off
According to the Attention Restoration Theory, when you are in an environment with lower levels of sensory input, the brain can ârecoverâ some of its cognitive abilities. With our digital world, our brains get less time to switch off. We are constantly processing enormous amounts of information. Research has shown the constant attention demands of modern life is placing a lot of stress on our prefrontal cortexâthe part of the brain responsible for making decisions, solving problems and more. When we spend time alone in silence, our brains are able to relax and release this constant focus.
Researchers found that silence helps new cells to differentiate into neurons, and integrate into the system, and that when we experience silence, our brains are able to work at better understanding our internal and external environments. We can make sense of our lives and gain perspective, something that is vital for our overall wellbeing.
While noise creates stress, silence relieves stress and tension in the brain and body. Silence is replenishing and nourishes our cognitive resources. Noise makes us lose our concentration, cognitive powers and causes decreased motivation and brain functioning (as backed up by research into the effects of noise), but studies show that spending some time in silence can amazingly restore what was lost through exposure to excessive noise. The ancient spiritual masters have known this all along; silence heals, silence takes us deeply into ourselves, and silence balances the body and mind. Now science is saying the same thing.
The healing benefits of nature and stillness are well documented, but now we can add to this quest for health and wellbeing, the nourishment of our brains. The simple yet ancient experience of silence could be just the healing balm we need to quell our crazy modern lifestyle.

Maine Families Fight for School Choice in U.S. Supreme Court Appeal

On behalf of three Maine families, the Institute for Justice (IJ) and the First Liberty Institute (FLI) filed a legal challenge to Maineâs exclusion of religious options from the stateâs school choice program. IJ represented families from three small âtuitioning townsâ in MaineâOrrington, Glenburn, and Palermoâtowns where the local school district offers high school tuition payments for students to attend the public or private secondary schools of their choice in lieu of maintaining public schools of their own. However, a state law prohibited those towns from paying tuition on behalf of families who chose otherwise qualified religious schools.
Maineâs law blatantly discriminated against parents based on religion, providing some families with tuition support for the school of their choice but denying that same support to other families. The families who filed the lawsuit qualified for Maineâs tuitioning program in all respects, but they were barred from choosing the schools they thought best for their children solely because those schools were religious. Such discrimination is both unfair and unconstitutional.
IJ and FLI argued not only that the U.S. Supreme Court has given the green light to include religious options in a school choice program, but also that barring parents from choosing religious options when providing families with school choice violates the U.S. Constitutionâs Free Exercise and Equal Protection Clauses.
In 2019, the U.S. District Court of Maine ruled against the parents. They appealed to the 1st U.S. Court of Appeals. While on appeal, the U.S. Supreme Court decided Espinoza v. Montanaž a case in which the Court struck down similar restrictions in Montanaâs school choice program under the First Amendmentâs Free Exercise Clause. Despite the Supreme Courtâs ruling, however, the 1st Circuit in October 2020 affirmed the lower court and held that Maineâs discrimination against religious educational options could continue, explaining that Maine did not discriminate based on religious statusâwhich Espinoza held unconstitutionalâbut rather on religious use. In other words, the federal appeals court ruled that participating schools could be religious in name, but if they did religious thingsânamely teach religionâMaine was justified in barring a parentâs choice of that school.
Like discrimination based on religious status, barring parents from picking religious schools if those schools do religious things clearly violates the Free Exercise Clause. In February 2021, therefore, the families appealed their case to the U.S. Supreme Court and sought to vindicate their right, once and for all, to select the best schools for their children, whether those schools were public or private, religious or nonreligious. In July 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court accepted the case and it was argued in December 2021.
In a landmark 6-3 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court held that a state may not prohibit families that participate in educational choice programs from selecting schools that provide religious instruction. School choice programs must be neutral regarding religionâwith the government neither favoring nor discriminating against parents who select religious schoolsâand allow families to choose the school that works best for their children. Chief Justice Roberts, writing for the majority, held that Maine âviolates the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendmentâ when it prohibits parents from choosing religious educational options in a school choice program.

EMP weapons use light, lasers, invisible microwaves and electromagnetic energy to cut off electricity. Natural sources of EMS appear in solar storms or artificially in hardware like radar or nuclear weapons.

If the U.S. suffered an EMP hit, electricity would be lost, the military's weapons would be downed, 99 nuclear reactors would likely melt down without electricity to cool them, and 4.1million people living near nuclear reactors would be displaced as radioactive cloud spread, according to the Washington Examiner.
'An EMP would cause instantaneous and simultaneous loss of many technologies reliant on electrical power and computer circuit boards, such as cell phones and GPS devices,' the report says.
Military and commercial jets would be degraded, bases would be cut off, and power and GPS would go dark making defense and counter-attacks virtually impossible.
The U.S. would be unable to determine who even launched the attack as they would be deployed via satellite.
The attack would dismantle or interfere with electricity, affecting transportation, food processing and healthcare. In fact, 90 per cent of the population on the East Coast would die in a year of the attack.
'Failures may include long-term loss of electrical power (due to loss of emergency generators), sewage, fresh water, banking, landlines, cellular service, vehicles,' the report says.
Civil unrest is predicted to start within just 'hours' of the attack.

Summary:
- Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.
For the purpose of Section 242, acts under "color of law" include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official's lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.
The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any.
TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 242
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, ... shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both; and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
