Triple-A: Enhancing at an Early Stage the Investment Value Chain of Energy Efficiency Projects is an EU-funded research project under the Horizon 2020 programme, aiming to assist financial institutionsincrease their deployment of capital in energy efficiency, making investments more transparent.
The Triple-A Interactive Web-based Database is a visual representation of the most important aspects in energy efficiency financing, including therisks and mitigation strategies, thepreferences of investors on energy efficiency investments, the financial performanceof energy efficiency projects, the modelsand instrumentsthat are usually used for financing and the performance of case study countries in terms of Sustainable Development Goals.
As part of Triple-A stakeholder consultationa series of Capacity Building Webinars are organized in the 8 case study countries within EU (i.e. Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, and Spain)from May to June 2021.
The purpose of these webinars is to share knowledge relevant for financing energy efficiency projects in the EU, so as to support investments in this area, and to raise interest for the Regional Training Workshops on the Triple-A Τools and methodology.
The 1st SMAFIN National Roundtable in Greece “Support SmartFinancing for Energy Efficient Buildings in Greece” was organised on the 20th of May 2021. Dr. Chara Karakosta (NTUA), represented Triple-A and participated as panelist in the session “Competitive processes to improve the energy efficiency of companies in the tertiary sector”, further promoting how Triple-A could foster investments in the tertiary sector.Some of the topics discussed were how the financing of the companies involved in projects in tertiary sector will be secured by the banking sector and how smart online tools could be used to bring together small projects and connect project developers with interested investors.
NTUA (Triple-A Coordinator) participated in the webinar organized by the Association of Greek Valuers (A.VA.G.) that took place on the 20th
of February 2021. The topic of the Webinar was "Enhancing the modern European valuers’ profession and recognizing the challenges in the era of the pandemic". Mr. Philip Mexis (NTUA) presented the preliminary results of the Triple-A Questionnaire on the Building Sector, being part of the Triple-A stakeholders consultation process for the Greek case study.
Triple-A was presented at the 3rd meeting of the EEFIG Industry Working Groupon the 5th February 2021. The topic of the event was “Accelerating industrial energy efficiency investments in the context of the EU recovery package”. It was an important topic, since there is an urgent need to look at how investments in energy efficiency could play an important role for our economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this acceleration is also meant to assist in meeting increasingly ambitious climate and energy objectives.
