Hi ,
How's your week been?
I've had one completely depleted of energy. I have merely existed this week - and probably not very well either. After the retreat last weekend, I was on such a high but I had forgotten to plan in a day for me to come down, assess the weekend so that I can improve on it and most importantly rest and recharge.
In the words of Julia Roberts, "Big mistake, HUGE!"
I've been chasing my tail all week and still haven't caught up with myself. So much so, that I feel like I don't know what day it is. Not good. I've fed myself and my family with mostly white foods, I've not slept well, I have barely spoken with my husband and I definitely haven't had fun with my kid. I feel terrible. End of tether terrible. So why am I sharing this misery with you? Well, apart from showing my humanity with you, I'm also sharing a key component in our wheel of life that energy is essential for us to live well.
In this week's blog post I have shared 5 ways to boost your energy to improve your mental health - it's pretty important to plan some time for ourselves in order to manage our lives well, maintain some balance with our energy levels and really take the rest we need. I know it's not easy - believe me! But wherever you can take the rest you need, please take it.
I have a pretty big to do list today so I'm going to leave it there and let you rest. My deadline for housework is 2pm and then I'm going to do painting with my kid, maybe watch a movie and plan my week ahead.
Husband and I have also agreed to create (and stick to) a life rota so that each of us pitches in equally and both of us get a day to ourselves which we currently do not have. I am soooo excited about this! I've been trying to find a way to make it work and he's been resistant to a rota but FINALLY he has come round and we are implementing one this week. It takes so much of the 'wife-nagging-guilt' away that it makes me feel good about myself and for him, he doesn't feel inadequate - men and women receive information and feelings differently. I'll keep you posted on the progress 😉 and if you've got a rota, let me know your best bits/successes.
Have a great week!
Lots of love
