Dear friend,

It's a new week!  We're so glad you're here.

BlackHer Shero of the Week

Our BlackHer Shero of the Week is Alma Henderson, associate general counsel at SEIU, one of the largest labor unions in the nation.  Henderson grew up in a union home.  In this interview, she explains why organizing and organized labor are so important for Black women.

It's National Voter Registration YEAR!

National Voter Registration Day was also last week, but we're here to tell you that the best time to register to vote is EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR!

We all know that the 2020 election will determine the fate of the planet.

But did you know that it will also have an enormous influence on the money flowing into (and out of!) communities for the NEXT TEN YEARS?!

Here's why.

The candidates we elect in 2020 will have the opportunity to redraw Congressional districts based on the results of the 2020 Census.

According to

"There are many ways the 2020 Census can shape your community. The results, collected once a decade, help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year."

Please don't wait.
