THE INSIDE STORY . . .
Writers come in all shapes and sizes and from all walks of life. The one trait that joins them is their passion for writing.
Christian writers add to this passion the anointed call of God. A Christian writer is fully aware that he or she is called to write by God Himself, and that this calling is irrevocable. For this reason, the Christian writer takes this calling very, very seriously.
As with every calling of God, sacrifices must be made to fulfill that calling. Not only that, challenges must be overcome. Yet, there are certain challenges that are somewhat unique to the Christian writer. Today I'd like to discuss three of these:
1) Isolation. 2) Self-doubt. 3) Spiritual attacks.
1) ISOLATION. The writer in general lives an isolated life in order to write. Writing is a profession that requires time alone. It requires withdrawing from things we would like to do--like going out to lunch with a friend--in order to fulfill our call to write. While the isolation is self-imposed, it can sometimes lead to discouragement. Yet, the isolation is necessary in order to create.
2) SELF-DOUBT. Writers, like all artists, are prone to self-doubt, perhaps a bit more than other professions. Writers can look at their work and think that it is terrible when, in reality, it is pretty good. Because of this, they can become vulnerable to discouragement and have to fight hard against it.
3) SPIRITUAL ATTACKS. Christian writers are prime targets of the enemy. Because they publish truth, they often experience severe spiritual attacks that come against every part of their lives: their health, their fingers and eyes, their computers, their relationships, and every possible area directly related to their call to write.
The next time you pray, remember the writers in your life. Today may be the very day that they need your prayers the most.
Thanks and Blessings,
MaryAnn
