HOPE VILLAGE - TINY HOUSING ALTERNATIVES, INC.
RECEIVES $65,000 MAYO CLINIC HEALTH SYSTEM GRANT
Hope Village: Changing lives one tiny house at a time
Chippewa Falls, WI (Nov. 23, 2022) - In a time of great need and demand, Hope Village is the recipient of a $65,000 grant from Mayo Clinic Health System, helping the tiny house non-profit get one step closer to reaching its capital campaign goal of $2.7 million.
Michael Cohoon, co-founder and director of Hope Village, said the generous contribution will help the non-profit organization bring more affordable housing to the Chippewa Valley.
“We are thrilled to have Mayo Clinic Health System partner with us. We are both concerned about the health and welfare of our neighbors and know that having a warm secure shelter is the first step to living a healthy lifestyle,” Cohoon says.
The grant will help fund Phase III of the Welcome Home Capital Campaign, which includes construction of multi-unit transitional and permanent housing, an outdoor pavilion, a workshop and playground area. “Helping our guests reconnect to their health resources has always been one of our three main goals. The other two are helping our guests find an income source and finally securing affordable housing. This contribution will give other contributors the confidence to partner with us as we inch closer to our campaign goal,” Cohoon says.
Brook Berg, the director of community engagement with Mayo Clinic Health System - Northwest Wisconsin Region, says reinvesting in the health of its communities is core to its mission as a non-profit health care provider. “We are grateful to be able to continue that commitment while also supporting an incredible organization, such as Hope Village, that has shown to have a significant, positive impact on a local community's needs.”
Since opening its first tiny house in 2016, Hope Village has built 11 tiny homes and provided service to more than 100 families and individuals in need of temporary housing alternatives.
