April Construction News

March saw the full spectrum of Michigan spring, including sun, snow and lots of rain. Our crews took advantage of the weather to make progress toward meeting milestones, but high water levels are creating challenging conditions and slowing work, particularly at the Smallwood and Secord sites. Sanford Lake residents will see the water level rise starting on April 15th. Click the button below to learn more about the construction on each dam.

Notice of Natural Shoreline Education Sessions

As part of the permitting process, Four Lakes Task Force will host a series of informational training sessions to educate property owners on how they can help protect the Four Lakes through conservation and restoration of natural shorelines.

WEBINAR: Introduction to Natural Shorelines

Presenters from Little Forks Conservancy, Michigan Natural Shoreline Partnership and FLTF will introduce natural shorelines, provide ways to improve shoreline conditions, and share information about a cost-share program for shoreline projects on the Four Lakes. Register here.

IN-PERSON: How to Build Your Natural Shoreline

Building upon the May webinar, the in-person training sessions will educate attendees on what to consider when selecting shoreline best management practices, design considerations for various types of shorelines including seawalls, and answer additional questions about the cost-share program. Register here.

Note: The two in-person sessions will cover the same material. They’re simply being offered on different dates and in different locations to accommodate as many people as possible.

Local SCI Chapter Donating Portion of Event Proceeds to FLTF

The Mid-Michigan Safari Club International chapter will host a Boomstick Bingo Night at the Great Hall in Midland on May 1st. The Chapter has graciously offered to donate its proceeds from a special 50/50 raffle during the event to support Four Lakes Task Force habitat improvement projects. The event will consist of dinner, eight bingo games and the 50/50 raffle. Event tickets are $80 per ticket or $150 for two tickets.
