What is passive stretching?

New research indicates that passive stretching can help with blood flow and improve heart health.

Passive stretching is when you are relaxed and an external force is provided. Think: pulling on Gumby! With passive stretching, you are being stretched instead of actively stretching. This can be someone assisting you, or through the use of bands, gravity, or even a wall.

Community Scavenger Hunt

Ground Rules

  • Find the Produce in Disguise.
  • No pushing or shoving.
  • Take photos of the carefully concealed produce.
  • Maintain appropriate social distance.
  • Wear a mask, if so inclined or if the business requires it. Some do!
  • Show your photos in the market building on Saturday August 8, 2020 for your chance to win some cool items.
  • You might also challenge others to:
    • find more of the disguised produce,
    • pit grandparents against their grandchildren, or
    • challenge the other houses on your block to find more than you.
    • Whatever you do, have fun!

Reminders about the farmers' market

We're almost to August!

Please remember good hygiene when shopping at the farmers' market. Wash your hands, and we recommend you wear a mask.


Loyalty Club cards can be turned in at the end of August. Congratulations to Shelly Lyn, the July winner.


Saturdays from 8 am until noon.


The market building is...OPEN! Come in and visit with some of the volunteers or shop our market swag. This is also where you can get debit or EBT tokens.


Farm to Table, our annual fundraiser, will be at Stonehouse Estate on September 12, 2020. Invitations will be mailed soon, and you'll also be able to purchase tickets online very soon.

Grilled Ratatouille Linguine

Using up all those good squash, onions, and peppers!

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. linguine
  • 2 small zucchini, halved lengthwise
  • 1 small eggplant, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 red pepper, halved
  • 1 yellow pepper, halved
  • 1 red onion, cut into rounds
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Grated Parmesan and chopped basil, if desired

Directions

  1. Heat grill on medium-high. Cook linguine per package directions.
  2. Meanwhile, brush zucchini, eggplant, peppers, and red onion with oil and season with 1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper.
  3. Grill until just tender, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a cutting board and cut into pieces.
  4. Toss linguine with grilled vegetables, drizzling with more oil as desired. Top with grated Parmesan and basil.
