With just a few household remedies – some of which you may already have in your kitchen cupboard – you can replace most essential cleaning products.

• Liquid soap works by dissolving and absorbing dirt and oily substances. Sustainable liquid soap consists simply of water, potash soap, olive and pine oil, and it is biodegradable.
• Vinegar or vinegar essence, citric acid, and baking soda (= sodium bicarbonate) are three classics. When diluted with warm water, each becomes an effective all-purpose cleaner that you can use to clean almost anything.
• Greasy surfaces can easily be cleaned with baking powder or baking soda..
• Warm water mixed with a little vinegar essence will give your bathroom a new shine. It will also get rid of lime score and can be used to polish stainless steel. This mixture is also very effective for cleaning windows. 
• Baking soda is very versatile. Among other things, you can use it in place of conventional aggressive oven cleaners: Mix the powder 1:1 with water and apply it to stains in the oven. Let it sit for a few hours, then scrub the oven and wipe it clean.
