Hey PRiSM Families!
Welcome to August! Before school gets going again and life gets busier, we have some tips to intentionally plan some family time into the fall schedule. We know life can get really busy really fast - with sports, work, youth group, and other extracurriculars - so, here are some ideas to help you connect with you family over the next semester:
1. Mealtimes. While we all know the importance of eating and communing together, dinners can be really hard. However, there are feasibly nine other meals that your family could eat together. Maybe weekday breakfasts or weekend lunches work better for your individual schedules. 2. Plan a weekly time to connect. With everything else getting a calendar invite, commit to adding a weekly time to connect with your family. Maybe you play board games every Tuesday night, or go for a walk on Saturday mornings. Scheduling your family time will make sure it doesn't fall between the cracks. 3. Let your kids plan family activities. Whether it's a family outing to ice cream or a picnic dinner in the park, if they plan it they will be more invested in committing to be there and making family time a priority.
Ultimately, we suggest finding a time to meet with your family before the busyness starts to ask questions like,“What worked well this last year?” or “What can we do better as a family to have intentional time together?” Maybe even asking,“Why do you think family time is important?” and then trying one of the above suggestions.
God put us in our families for a reason and the world is intentionally trying to take that time away from the family.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need any help facilitating family time.
With love, Your PRiSM Team
