The December edition is arriving late, but we preferred not to compress it into a rushed summary. It has been a very busy month: lots of activities, results, and cool stories from the communities we work with. To keep things simple and realistic, the next edition will bring together news from January and February, and when December is so rich, we are happy to celebrate it separately.

| Documentary film as one of the most powerful educational tools |
|
This topic was explored by a group of teachers during a practical workshop. For one day, in the informal setting of Queer Cafe, participants had the opportunity to learn how to use short documentaries to explore topics related to human rights, democracy, and social phenomena. We also discussed how, through documentaries, students can discover themselves and practice critical thinking, self-reflection, and empathy skills. See more here. |

| As the year draws to a close, we are celebrating the launch of a new project: Citizen Communities for Energy Efficiency! |
|
Of the 16 localities selected for the project, in December we managed to visit four of them with information sessions on simple energy efficiency measures. Over 80 people from Chiperceni, Rădeni, Volintiri, and Sireți learned how to reduce their electricity and heating bills in winter. The information sessions will be followed by a series of activities to bring the topic of energy efficiency to the most energy-vulnerable households. In addition to education, we are planning experience-sharing activities, study visits, and grants for the energy efficiency of a public building in the selected communities. Read more here. |

We’re also grateful to our beneficiaries, experts, service providers, as well as the partners and donors who have supported us every step of the way. How do social entrepreneurs in Moldova see their challenges and needs?
Between December 2024 and February 2025, EcoVisio, in partnership with the Social Entrepreneurs Association, conducted a national survey to understand the perceptions, obstacles, and needs of social entrepreneurs on both banks sides of the Nistru River. The survey was conducted with the financial assistance of Sweden and the United Kingdom within the UNDP project "Advanced Cross-River Capacities for Trade" (AdTrade).
As a result, we learned the following important points: 🟢 Access to financing, the market, and the lack of support policies are the biggest challenges facing social enterprises; 🟢 High interest rates, insufficient information about opportunities, and high training costs limit the development of social businesses; 🟢 Only a small proportion of respondents use a business plan or marketing strategy, and two-thirds said they need training in these areas; 🟢 Marketing and sales (63%), followed by financial planning (56%) and European project writing (50%), are the areas where entrepreneurs need the most support. 🟢 Most participants prefer study visits and individual consultations as a form of learning.
