Dear GNN faithful,
Two weeks ago our missionaries went on a mission trip to Humla, Nepal, the highest district in Nepal. Until recently, the only way to get to Humla was to walk 11 days from Nepalgunj or to take an airplane to the SImikot Airport. Now the government has built a road going all the way up to Humla. The road to the Jumla District, finished years ago, was taken by some of our American Board members once. It was a grueling 14 hour trip in the 4 wheel drive Bolero, bumping over rocks, land falls, streams and many hazardous unprotected roads. But this trip extended from Jumla north, several hundred miles more to Humla! Our GNN group experienced many hardships. In several spots land slides had occurred and the road had to be cleared by government workers on the scene. Long delays happened. At one road blockage, our men had to rent a piece of equipment from a nearby village to clear the way for our Bolero to get through!
The purpose of this trip was to preach the gospel along the way, and then to train our missionaries in Humla how to show the Jesus film on a 10-inch tablet. This included work on how to use the computer, how to load data, how to access loaded data, and finally how to report what work they have done showing the Jesus Film and other Christian films. These tablets were furnished to GNN by CRU. While in Simikot, Humla it was found that one of our pastors in Nepalgunj’s mother was gravely ill. Our team transported her to a medical facility in Sarkegard Nepal. I am sorry to report that Mrs. Hamal, a Christian, passed away in Sarkagard. Fortunately, one of our senior pastors was there as one of our missionaries making the trip, so he was able to preside over the funeral in a wonderful way. Many Hindu attendees heard the Gospel. A picture below is of a man carrying a large board to make the casket from!
Our group traveled on to give group training for the tablets to Jumla, Mugu, and Kalikot. All the training sessions went great, and the missionaries were eager to receive the tablets. Along the way 3 people received Jesus into their lives as ministered to by our mission team! “No matter what the situation in the moment of life, never stop the work of expanding God’s Kingdom” said our team after their return to Nepalgunj.
Thanks to all of you that receive this newsletter and pray regularly for our missionaries! Your prayers help GNN to “Reach the Unreached” in Western Nepal.
God bless you,
