EICMA Esports MX Championship Finale Shatters Records in Milan, Italy
Milan, Italy — Nov 21, 2023 — The city of Milan witnessed history as the inaugural EICMA Esports MX Championship Finale unfolded at the Esports Arena, drawing the best 10 MXBikes players from around the globe, who qualified through an exhilarating 4-race online championship. The event was held at Fiera Milano, setting the stage for an unforgettable clash of virtual titans.
In an electrifying battle for the World Champion title, Cam, the crowd favorite, dominated Moto 1 with a spectacular performance, lapping up to 3rd place. The competition intensified in Moto 2 as Cam faced an unexpected setback, allowing Lynds to seize the lead. However, a last-lap twist saw Cam reclaim victory, securing the overall championship. Lynds valiantly recovered to finish second, with Aiden rounding out the podium. The race was held on the true reproduction of the MotoLive track where IRL riders were competing on simultaneously just outside the arena walls.
The EICMA Esports MX Championship Finale played on MX Bikes not only showcased the incredible skills of these gamers but also marked a groundbreaking moment in the convergence of the digital and real worlds. The participants enjoyed a celebrity treatment and took home impressive prizes, including a coveted Tissot watch presented by 250 MXGP World Champion, Andrea Adamo.
The excitement didn't end there. On Sunday, the top three gamers faced off against VIPs and motorcycle legends in a custom live sim racing event. Icons such as Tony Cairoli (Motocross Legend), Dani Pedrosa (MotoGP legend), Maria Herrera (Superbike Legend), Nicolo' Bulega (2023 Supersport World Champion), Rebecca Bianchi (Motorcycle influencer), Hell Raton (Producer - Influencer), and Gianluca Gazzoli (Radio Deejay) joined Cam, Lynds, and Aiden for an exhilarating showdown. In a thrilling 20-minute race, MotoGP legend Dani Pedrosa emerged victorious, with Aiden securing second place and Motocross legend Tony Cairoli taking third.
"The convergence of gaming and racing on a global stage is truly unbelievable," said Giacomo Casartelli, EICMA Executive Director. "We've witnessed an extraordinary event that brought together the best of both worlds, and the overwhelming response from the public is a testament to the success of the EICMA Esports MX Championship Finale and the VIP Race," concludes Stefy Bau, Init Esports CEO.
During the week the public also got a taste of the digital world in the Free-to-play area. People of every age got to experience MotoGP, SBK22, Ride 5, and the TT23 games in addition to spinning some laps on the VIP sim racing track aboard a pickup truck.
The event's success was made possible by the support of technical partners including, Ak Informatica and Virtual MX.
