Reading Program Information
In the booklet from National level, they noted some books as bonus books that might have been read last year. If you had anyone in your unit who read them, contact me about that - I will be checking with the higher levels on how to handle this one. If they read one of these books last year, they can count the extra (bonus part) for this year.
Also noted from the Reading Program book is the lack of Large Print books. Many of the books are available from the libraries in LP or Audio versions. I was unable to find the books in Large Print for purchasing. When I contacted the publishers, I was informed that they were only allowing non-religious libraries and educational institutions to purchase that format. The recommendation from them and national office was to purchase the electronic book and then people could increase the size that they were viewing on the screen. This would work if we had tablets to pass around.
If you want to purchase one for your unit to share, I would suggest a "WiFi only" tablet. They are less expensive, have a longer battery life, and no data plan contract or costs.
The study book for this year's Mission u might be in your library already. Pushout (the study book) was a bonus book in 2018. You may need to get some extra copies for members going to Mission u.
Keeping good records will help you to be ready for reporting time. The 2020 report will be due at the end of July / beginning of August. Some people turn them in at Mission u. This is a link to a simple recording form that you can use to keep track of books and report them.
For those who are going to be taking over the office of Program Resources for next year, I will be updating the training and posting the link here in January.
