CEO REPORT – TERM 1
This has been a term like no other as NECOM, along with our entire world, has been turned on its head. Fortunately, our February and early March concerts and workshops went ahead as planned and over 375 students, teachers and audiences participated in these invaluable live music activities.
We now have a totally new appreciation of how precious live music concerts, lessons and group activities are and we can never take these for granted ever again!
Since the COVID-19 response escalated in March, NECOM management and teaching staff have been working around the clock to transition to our new on-line world. Their creativity, adaptability and commitment to evolving our programs has been extraordinary. The good news is that on-line lessons are already up and running and that we are presently creating the best-practice on-line activities that will allow many ensembles and school music classes to recommence in Term 2.
Please read through our COVID-19 Update report in this email for full details of NECOM’s programs for Term 2.
I am sure you will agree that the expertise, generosity and good humour shown by musicians and performing arts companies in Australia and across the globe through sharing their on-line offerings is nothing short of remarkable. Musicians have shown incredible leadership at this time – by harnessing their creativity and talent they have brought humanity, comfort and entertainment to people wherever they are.
Back here in Armidale, congratulations to our students, families, schools and teachers for the patience, commitment and determination shown during this term. These attributes will see us continue to achieve amazing musical outcomes in these coming months.
