And I thought that was a good metaphor for life, and especially the lives we’ve all been living these last, challenging, years. Throw away the bad and hold onto the good. We may never get back to the way we used to live but the components are still there—love and laughter and friends and family, books and music and movies and art. They just might be in different combinations than they were before. But they’re still beautiful—life is still beautiful. Maybe in an unfamiliar way, but we’ll get used to it. And learn to treasure it.
And that’s all for my end-of-the-year reflections!
I hope you have a special holiday season this year, however you celebrate it. With family and friends, or alone with a good book. Of course, you’re never alone when you read a book! Take time to do something special for yourself. Find the beauty in the mess or the solitude—they are each gorgeous in their own way.
And take all precautions to stay healthy out there!
See you in the new year,
