Dear Praying Friends,

It's hard to believe Amazing Grace Baptist Church is almost four months old already.  Although 2020 was filled with difficulty and uncertainty, God's faithfulness remains unchanged.  He prevailed by enabling this new work to start, by answering specific prayer requests, and growing this new work in spite of adversity.  Here are several blessing from the Lord over the holiday season.

November 22 was our first Thanksgiving Pie and Praise Service.  This was a very important occasion for most of our people because it was their first experience attending a Thanksgiving service of any kind.  Most of the normal visitors were in attendance and several people shared how God had worked in their lives this past year.  My heart was especially thrilled when a man who got saved in September praised God for his salvation, for the new sense of calm in his life, and his desire to witness to family and coworkers.

On the three month anniversary of the church plant, December 20, we held a special Christmas service.  It included Scripture reading from Luke's Gospel, a variety of Christmas Carols, and a message from the Word challenging the people about the real reason Christ was born.  We praise the Lord for my parent's, sister, and two young ladies from our sending church who helped bring this service together.

Earlier this fall, my Dad had the opportunity to witness to a local man who was not sure where he would spend eternity.  After going through the Gospel with him, the man said there was a time when he was younger when he did call upon the name of the Lord.  The man gave my Dad a hug and thanked him for providing assurance of salvation in God's Word.  Our family prayed for this man for several weeks and he finally started attending around Christmas.

I've also had the opportunity to start two in-home Bible studies.  Both of these opportunities are already bearing fruit.  After hearing (for the first time) how God's Holy Spirit works in the lives of believers to resist temptation and produce fruit, one man said, "That makes a lot of sense."  Another person admitted that he finally understand certain passages of the Bible.  Please pray for the people in these Bible studies.  All of them have roots in the world and false doctrine.  Please pray that God will use His Word to lovingly but firmly remove these roots from their lives.

Perhaps the greatest blessing of all is the visitors that have been attending regularly.  On any given Sunday, the majority of people in attendance had previously been either "unchurched" or "poorly churched".  Many of them are hearing uncompromised Bible preaching for the first time.  Sharing God's Word with people who never understood it before is perhaps one of the greatest joys of church planting.

Thank you for praying for our family.  The Lord answered a very specific request at Daniel's last cardiologist appointment.  The cardiologist said that Daniel's heart is performing so well that he can be taken off all medication except aspirin (1st direct answer to prayer) and that can switch to bi-yearly cardio visits (2nd answer to prayer).  These words filled our hearts with joy and gratitude to the Lord for His goodness.

We Praise the Lord for . . .

  • Wonderful Holiday Services
  • Bible study opportunities
  • Witnessing opportunities
  • First-time visitors
  • Daniel's excellent health

Please Pray for . . .

  • More Bible study opportunities

  • Boldness to do God's will throughout 2021

In conclusion, Psalm 9:17 says "The wicked shall all be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."  2020 has shown that America as a nation is wicked, has forgotten God, and is deserving of hell.  What is the answer?  It is the Gospel and Church Planting!  Although America may drift further into depravity, Godly Christians must stand stronger in the Word by boldly proclaiming His Gospel, building local churches, and in the spirit of Philippians 2:14, "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I had not run in vain, neither labored in vain."

In Christ,

Adam, Rebekah, and Daniel Shedal
