With the aim of triggering an impetus for cultural regeneration arising from Volterra's immense archaeological heritage, the exhibition connects a selection from this legacy with artists who are part of our present, who breathe and give back the emotional vibrations that our current times may offer.
The Museum’s three unique artefacts are concerned with the Etruscan underworld and establish an unexpected dialogue with the artworks of the two contemporary artists selected by KALPA. The vivid, scratched marks made in oil, acrylic and clay of Herbosch's paintings, reminiscent of mysterious hieroglyphics, establish a connection with the same emotional charge of Etruscan writing. Next to these pieces, Hirai’s ceramic sculptures represent an exploration of contrast, of the combination of coarse clay and translucent glaze.
