“It’ll turn your pee pink,” the chemo nurse says as she sanitizes the port in my jugular vein. Then she pulls out a red needle that’s bigger than her hand. I joke that she’s gonna inject me with Kool-Aid. She laughs. I fake a smile and swallow a scream.
