I love Ron Chast’s silly humor, poking fun at the myth of a perfect mom. (Check out her hilarious book Childhood. ) This Mother’s Day, let’s celebrate real moms, in all their complexity: loving, frustrated, absent-minded, determined, laughing, crying, distracted, delighted, and most of all, doing their best to show up for their kids, day after day.
As the world is starting to open up, many kids are having to deal with friendship issues that were put on hold for a year. I wish I could give every child a copy of Growing Friendships: A Kids’ Guide to Making and Keeping Friends! It’s a funny and practical book for kids (ages 6-12) that helps them navigate their sometimes complicated social world.
I’m happy to say that there are now TEN 2-min Quick Friendship Tips to Help Your Child videos posted on YouTube. The videos are for parents about ways to support children’s friendships. I hope you find them useful!
