ARTDEX Inaugural Art Competition & Kickstarter Update
Dear ARTDEX member,
We here at ARTDEX would like to thank you for your continued support in our mission of democratizing the art world. Your passion for the arts continues to inspire us every day, as we work tirelessly to change the art landscape and showcase the emerging talents of the world.
As you know, we recently launched our ARTDEX Inaugural Art Competition and Kickstarter campaign in July. In starting this competition, our intention was to encourage young creatives with an endowment supplied by the people. Unfortunately, we met challenges and our Kickstarter campaign did not reach the goal that we hoped to meet.
Since we were unable to successfully meet our fundraising goal, we’ve revised the cash prizes so that we may continue to support emerging talents. With a revised amount of $1,000, we will be awarding $100 cash prizes to 10 artists. Four $100 prizes will be awarded to our promotion artists: Kristin Pavlick, Pascal LeCocq, Myles Hunt, and Kazuhiro Higashi. Six artists and artworks will be voted on by our team of ARTDEX advisors and guest educators to win $100 prizes. This year, our esteemed jurors team includes:
School of Architecture, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY
- Todd Henry Bartel, Visual Arts Teacher, Artist
Thompson Gallery Director, The Cambridge School of Weston, MA
- Bradley Horn, Associate Professor
Director of Graduate Architecture Program, School of Architecture, The City College of NY
- Michael Oatman, Associate Professor, Artist
School of Architecture, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY
- Richard Sarrach, Associate Professor
Associate Director of Interdisciplinary Technology, School of Architecture, Pratt Institute, NY
In light of this, we’ve decided to extend the Art Competition until August 31st! We encourage you to use this extension to submit your work through ARTDEX.COM for a chance to win cash prizes, and to showcase what you’ve been working on.
As we saw through our fundraising challenges, the art world still has a long way to go in becoming an inclusive, democratized space. That’s why this competition is more important now than ever. We encourage you to submit your art and take part in the ARTDEX community.
We look forward to seeing your work, and we thank you for your support.
All the best,
The ARTDEX Team
