2021 UVU Conference on Suicide Prevention
Student Participation Information
Hello. Thank you for registering for the upcoming 2021 UVU Conference on Suicide Prevention being held on October 29th. We are looking forward to a wonderful day!
We want your attendance to be enjoyable and comfortable. Toward that end, we want to provide some logistical information to help you navigate the conference location. Due to campus construction, our event is being held in a different area of campus than typical. We will be checking you in at the student registration area located just inside the Southeast doors (inside the breezeway between the FL and CB) of the CB 101AB area.
Participant Virtual Access Codes will be provided to all participants regardless of the type of registration. Live Participants will have access to all session recordings and live-streamed content – as will Virtual Participants. Event access codes will be distributed via your registration email one week prior to the conference (no later than October 22, 2021). Your personal login will be the email you registered under. Make sure you are using the correct email – otherwise you will not be allowed access. Please feel free to explore early. Sessions and exhibits will not be live (of course), but you can get comfortable with the location of session descriptions, etc. We encourage you to watch the Welcome Video in advance of the conference date so that you become familiar with the conference portal. The conference participant portal will remain open (with all session recordings and associated survey/quizzes) until 5 pm on November 12. At that time the conference portal will close permanently.
Registration Check-in for Live Participants will be located on Level 1 of the Clarke Classroom Building (CB). Signs will be posted to direct you. Our keynote speaker will begin promptly at 9 am – so we encourage you to arrive on campus early to allow you to park, check-in, and find your seats comfortably. Check-in will begin at 8 am. Remember – even if you registered as a Virtual attendee, you are welcome to attend Live – and visa-versa.
Lunch is not provided
for student participants who did not pay a registration fee.
A full schedule of sessions can be found at the conference website (www.uvu.edu/chss/suicide_prevention ). We encourage you to preview the program. There will be ample seating, however, some sessions may fill quickly. We encourage you to take your seats efficiently between sessions. Please help us honor fire code regulations by not sitting on the floor against the walls. Each room is set for capacity based upon campus fire codes.
Session Materials
are provided at the discretion of individual presenters. We do strongly encourage them to share information with you for future reference. We feel that this allows the conference to continue having positive impact. Some presenters will choose to provide printed materials which will be distributed in the session rooms, and posted in the virtual conference portal. Some presenters prefer to not provide copies of their presentations, or prefer to have participants contact them directly for copies.
CEU Certificates and Certificates of Attendance (for student participants who currently hold, or will receive their professional licenses this year) will be provided following the conference via the email used to register and login to the virtual portal. NASW, UAMFT and NADAAC have approved 10 CEUs for the conference - all of which qualify for Suicide Prevention credits. Participants must complete a brief after-session survey/quiz after each session attended in order to receive credit for sessions (DOPL requirement). All surveys will be posted in the conference portal with the session information. Live attendees are welcome to complete a paper pencil feedback form for those sessions attended in person.
Conference hours
begin at 9am with the opening keynote address, and the final sessions will conclude at 4:30pm. Participant check-in will begin at 8am. Live Exhibit booths will be open in the morning beginning at 8am. We will adjourn at Noon for lunch. The Exhibit fair and student poster presentations will be held at the same time, along with a book-signing with our keynote speaker Anne Moss Rogers.
Corona Virus Update: As many of you know, currently masks are not required for Utah. However, we do recommend masking when indoors to help provide extra protection for everyone in the area. We also recommend those attending live follow the suggested safety practices.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and often, and use hand sanitizer after contact with commonly used surfaces
- Avoid shaking hands - fist and elbow ‘bumps’ work just as well when greeting friends and associates
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible
- Stay home when you are sick! Remember…your registration allows you to attend the conference either live OR VIRTUALLY! All sessions will be recorded and available in the conference portal for a full 2 weeks (until 5pm on November 12th) – so there is no reason to expose yourself and others.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you again for joining us!
