to be held from 10am - 4.30pm on Friday 6th May 2022
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
You are warmly invited to join us for a Creative Quiet Day on Friday 6th May. ‘The Peace of Wild Things’ is a beautiful poem of courage, healing and hope. The day will include a short introduction to the life and work of Wendell Berry (American poet, environmental activist and farmer). There will be opportunities to work creatively in silence, along with time to rest in the wonderfully restorative grounds at The Woodbrooke Centre, which has a walled garden, labyrinth and a lake.
The day will be facilitated by Gillian Lever and Becky Morse-Brown, an artist and art therapist, whose Christian faith and spiritual journeying have been nourished and shaped by art making and imagery over a number of years. We are thrilled to be able to offer the day in the spacious and beautiful setting of Woodbrooke and to be able to meet in person once again.
The cost of the day will be £90. This includes use of the studio space and the provision of all art materials, lunch, refreshments, and access to the grounds at Woodbrooke throughout the day. We ask that this is paid at the point of registration and, if possible, by bank transfer. If you would like to book a place please email Gillian Lever: glever@btinternet.com
