Hello Readers,
First, a heads up on MURDER ON THE PAGE digital deliveries snafu!! Second, there's a GIVEAWAY BELOW.
But back to first. As you know if you read my latest newsletter, something weird happened to the ePUB of the e-books. If you ordered an e-book and saw the cover to my book but the content was not correct, don't panic. The digital team has fixed the problem.
HOWEVER, if you received an alert that it is fixed, and it tells you to delete the current book, and upload the new, and then you STILL have the wrong one, you need to contact the seller. UGH! I hate having to call online retailers.
HOPEFULLY, I have LINKS that will help you easily navigate this. Write me at daryl at darylwoodgerber dot com so I can send you an email with the instructions with IMAGES.
That said . . . I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW UNHAPPY I AM THAT THIS HAPPENED AND AFFECTED ALL OF YOU. You have been my stalwart readers for years now. It's disheartening, but I hope you will continue to read the books that I continue to write to entertain you.
That said, if you have not yet purchased MURDER ON THE PAGE, the 1st Literary Dining Mystery, it is out, and I hope you will take a peek.

What's it about?
It’s a truth universally acknowledged that a genuinely top-notch party must be in want of a theme. Allie Catt, caterer and personal chef in the beautiful mountain community of Asheville, North Carolina, has devised a winning formula by using her clients’ favorite books as inspiration. Her first themed event is based on Pride and Prejudice (Allie’s cat, Darcy, approves), and it’s so popular that soon she has grand ideas for future parties based on Rebecca, The Great Gatsby, Babette’s Feast and more.
Business is booming, and a rival catering company is fuming. But there’s a sting in the tale when the aunt of one of Allie’s clients and best friends, Tegan, is murdered. Tegan is the victim’s sole heir, and quickly becomes the main suspect. Allie has no doubts about her friend’s innocence, but how to prove it?
Once again, Allie’s love of literature comes to the rescue, and with some guidance from her favorite fictional detectives, including Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes, Allie sifts through the clues. With a little luck—and the kind of pluck that would make Elizabeth Bennett proud—she may be able to stop a killer from serving up a second course of murder . . .

I am doing a book tour in the Southeast. I recently had a blast at Hub City Bookshop in Spartanburg, SC. Know what it's called Hub City? Because the town was a hub for railroads early on. Trivia for 200, Alex (or Ken, depending on who you remember most.)
Here are a few fun photos. We were asked to wear costumes, as the series is the Literary Dining Mysteries and it was the day before Halloween. So I dressed as Holly Golightly. Okay, I needed to be younger and I needed browner hair, but I had a good time. Cruella won the contest!
PS The bookstores has a tuxedo cat mascot. What a doll. She was lovely and posed with the book. Then she jumped into my lap.

Carmel-by-the-Sea garden shop owner Courtney Kelly sees things others can’t—like fairies, and hidden motives for murder . . .
Courtney is delighted when her tiny friend Fiona returns from the fairy realm, appearing at the base of a Cypress tree. When her Ragdoll cat, Pixie, emerges from her own portal—aka the cat door—the three set off for a busy day. Busier than usual, since Courtney has rented a small plot of land at the Flower Farm, where she hopes to grow her own supplies for her fairy-garden business. Plus, the annual Summer Blooms Festival is coming up, and Courtney has booked a booth . . .
But the murder of Courtney’s friend, Genevieve, casts a pall over the festival. Ever since Genevieve sold her floral business, she’d been building a career as an influencer. She was perennially opinionated—but in her new role she’d become surprisingly vicious, dissing local entrepreneurs with nasty posts and unwarranted bad reviews. That’s landed a couple of Courtney’s other friends on the suspect list—including Flower Farm owner Daphne Flores. And when a second victim is discovered, seeds of doubt about Daphne’s innocence sprout in Courtney’s mind. Working with only a germ of a clue, Courtney will have to overturn every rock to get the dirt on the real killer . . .

Chocolate Butterscotch Cookies
|
|
|
|
(Yield: 20–24 Cookies)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 ½ cups packed brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 ÂĽ cups flour
- 1 ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butterscotch morsels
- 1 cup chocolate morsels
- Sea salt, if desired
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
In a stand mixer, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until blended, 2–3 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla and mix. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Stir in the butterscotch morsels and chocolate morsels. If you feel the mixture is dry (it will be), you may add 2 tablespoons water.
If you want large cookies, drop spoonfuls (about 2 tablespoons each) on the prepared baking sheets, about 6 to a sheet. These do spread. If you want smaller cookies, drop spoonfuls (about 1 tablespoon each) on the baking sheets, about 12 to a sheet. If desired, sprinkle with sea salt.
Bake cookies for 10–12 minutes, until lightly brown. Remove from oven and cook on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack.

What is not to love about this cute face? Needless to say, he was not happy that I went out of town. I mean, sure he ADORES the dog sitter. She ADORES him. But, man, when I get home, he is stuck to me like glue. I'd better spoil him for the holidays, right? Extra new toys? Lots of petting? I'm a fool for this little guy.

That's it. That's all that is fit to print. May your joy come from reading. May your lives be filled with love. Until next time . . . all my best,
