THE PUBLISHING NEWS
The top 5 books in the UK this week (27th March) are:
Jack Reacher - The Sentinel: Lee and Andrew Child The Midnight Library: Matt Haig The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse: Charlie Mackesy The Thursday Murder Club: Richard Osman Pinch of Nom, Quick and Easy: Kay Featherstone and Kate Allinson
Jefferey Deaver's The Goodbye Man, Marian Keyes' Grown Ups and Ann Cleeves The Darkest Evening all selling well, showing that writing careers can last for decades.
Some notes: Lee Child has officially stated that he’s handing over the reins of writing the Jack Reacher books to his younger brother, Andrew Child, aka Andrew Grant. It will be interesting to see how the brother will get on, and how much influence Lee will have over the character’s direction. My partner is loving The Midnight Library. She says it’s a clever, fascinating, engaging story. Boy and Mole... still selling well - it’s been on the bestseller lists for ages, Richard Osman is working on a follow up to the Thursday Murder Club, called The Man Who Died Twice. This is due to hit the shelves in September 2021, and will no doubt be an outstanding success for him. And… a Pinch of Nom. What can you say about this juggernaut of a brand? We use one of their books a lot. Easy recipes, nothing too complicated, and great tasting food.
