I asked Clare a few questions about her business recently. Here’s what she said.
1. Clare, tell us what services you provide for your clients?
With Agency works in partnership with customers to help them drive their business forward and achieve their goals. Specifically we provide support for paid social media advertising campaigns - that's everything from fully managed done-for-you ads campaigns to bespoke training, audits and general social media consultancy.
2. Where did the name With Agency come from?
It's funny, the name With Agency has unexpectedly been a great talking point and people have made their own assumptions about what it means. This is great for me as one of the best things you can do on social media is get people talking about your brand. The original idea of the name was dual purpose - the traditional use of the word Agency as a place people would go for expert digital advertising support and the sense of having agency and the idea that we can enable them to communicate effectively and achieve the marketing outcomes that matter to them.
3. Do you have a typical / ideal client? Can you describe them?
The best thing about working in social media is that when used to its full potential it can benefit every type of business - we have been fortunate to work across multiple sectors including both product and service based businesses and charities. I'm really interested in fitness and wellness so it's been great to work with gyms and other professionals in this area. More than any specific sector, what's important for us is that we work with brands and entrepreneurs who are looking to work in partnership with us as marketers and whose values and ways of working are complimentary with our own. We've worked with some amazing people so far!
4. Do you have any future plans for the business that you want to share with us? What's your 5 year plan?
We already offer Google ads as a service but historically we have naturally found more customers on Facebook. This autumn I am doing some further Google ads training so we can better support our customers business growth on this platform. Longer term, the sky is the limit - watch this space!
5. What would your top tip be for someone starting out working for themselves?
There are lots of opportunities out there for people starting up on their own so my advice is to go for it! It definitely pays to surround yourself with great people who are further along the business journey who can help you when you come across things that test your expertise and resolve. Other things that have worked for me are being consistent with business development (little and often) and the careful use of experts for parts of your business that aren't your superpower. That's why I work well with Caroline.
